The Sesame Years

The Sesame years are over now -
How they quickly flew away!
I thought they'd last forever,
But it doesn't work that way…

"Come and Play…" the TV sings -
…But you've already gone:
Off to school -
Growing up -
It's time for moving on…

I'm very proud of all of you,
And who you've grown to be;
When you find your places in this world,
I hope there's room for me…

I've always known these days would come -
You'd venture from the nest…
I'll handle it with poise and grace
(I'll try my very best!)

But if - some days - I'd like to wallow
In my memories Bittersweet…
"Can you tell me how to get
How to get [back] to Sesame Street?"

That was a tear jerker!
They grow up to darn fast.
I often wonder what I will do someday
when they are gone.
