A dear friend of the family has been in the hospital since December 26. She was sent to a rehab two weeks ago. She took another turn for the worse and was sent back to the hospital yesterday. She is diabetic and is having severe complications. I have sent cards that basically say she is in our thoughts and prayers. I am now sending her daffodils (her favorite) and want to write something more to express how we care etc... but I am at a loss for words. Please help! Thanks! Yvonne
Daffodils are the American Cancer Society's symbol of hope. Here is a page with legends and lore and associations of daffodils: http://www.geocities.com/thedaffodilgarden/lore.htm You might include one of these legends and associations (the nice, positive ones)in your note each time you send her daffodils. For me, daffodils are a promise that yes, Spring is coming. If something funny or unusual has happened, tell her about it in your note. Keep her in touch with your life, and tell her what her friends are doing. Beyond that, you can only continue to say that you are keeping her in your thoughts and prayers.
How does this sound? "The daffodil is a symbol of rebirth - a sign of the new beginnings that come with spring". We hope you are feeling better soon. You are constantly in our thoughts And always in our prayers. Your friends, John, Yvonne, Jessica & Addison Myers
That's beautiful, and very uplifting!
That is wonderful. It is always nice to tie in something that matters to a friend - like your friend's daffodils - in a note. It makes it really personal, not just an Emily Post kind of thing. Kudos to you for wanting to make it really personal and meaningful.
Thank you for your help!
I just received the below email from my mom and just can't stop crying. PLEASE pray for our friend. Thanks! "Helllo Friends, I just got off the phone with Harvey. Wish I had some good news to report, but I don't. Unfortunately Celeste has been going down hill recently. She has numerous sores on her legs and feet that will not heal. Her blood pressure is dangerously low and now she is having a problem swallowing. He said she is in a lot of pain and they can't give her morphine because it will lower her blood pressure even more. They have taken her off all liquids so they can examine her throat in the morning. He said she was in so much pain tonight that he couldn't stand to stay with her any longer. He said he honestly believes she will never be able to come home. I just want to sit here and cry, but I know that will not help her. I am so sorry that I have to be the bearer of bad news, but don't give up praying for Celeste as we all know miracles do happen."
I will keep her and her family in my thoughts and prayers.
I will also say a prayer for her and her family. By the way....your note was perfect.
Celeste passed away today. Please pray for her husband Harvey as he trys to get through the next few days, weeks, etc without his beloved spouse.
I'm sorry for your loss. She'll be in my thoughts and prayers; her dh too. I'm glad you sent her the flowers. I'm sure that brought joy to her life in her delicate time. (((hugs)))
I'm sorry, that is very sad. I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers.
I am so sorry. It hurts to lose a loved one.How old was your friend? Was her condition totally because of the diabetes? Or did she have other health problems too?
She was 59 and basically it was complications from diabetes that caused her death. Thank you everyone for your prayers!
{{{Yvonne}}}} So sorry about your dear friend. Thoughts and prayers to you and to Celeste family.
