Working...
My baby is only 6 weeks old and I am going back to work tomorrow. My husband and I had saved up a lot of money for my maternity leave, but we just hit some rough times, and now we don't have have any left. We can't survive on one income, especially since he starts school again in a week. I'm picking up shifts at the restaurant I used to work at, only on Fri and Sat, when my husband is home so the baby won't have to go to daycare. I have my degree, but I'm not ready to work full time. I'm having a hard time just imagining how much I will miss him tomorrow. I'm just complaining. I hope all you SAHMs know how lucky you are! (I know it is hard financially for many of you, I'm not trying to lessen the sacrifices you guys make!)
Bigtime (((HUGS))).
{{{HUGS}}} Going back to work is hard. I managed to stretch out my maternity leave, both times, to 8 weeks, but it was still hard.
Aw, Jen. What a heart you have...I can't imagine that strain on you. {{HUGS}}
It is so hard to be torn by the many ways we have to take care of our family. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}
Very well said Rayelle. Big hugs again Jelygu.
Thanks everyone. It was hard getting to work this morning, I almost turned the car around and said "screw the bills". But, I made it through the day, and raced home to smell that sweet baby smell as soon as I could.
You are doing the right thing. I am a SAHM, and I think that a lot of times, working isn't as necessary as some say it is, that women have more options than they allow themselves. But you said you hit rough times, which can happen to even the most carefully laid out plans. And you are working when dh is home so you aren't taking the baby to daycare. You have options, and you can make it work. Best of luck!
