A Momma black bear and her baby came traipsing through our yard at about 7:30 tonight. Momma was wearing a radio collar and baby's ear was tagged, so they're obviously being tracked. Living in a rural, woodsy area can certainly be interesting at times.

Oh, how cute! I remember seeing a bear, once, when Sarah was a newborn. She was crying, crying and crying, so we took her on a short drive, which usually seemed to calm her down. On the way home, we saw what we thought was a large dog, cross the main street. Then we got home and heard the cops, on the scanner, chasing a bear out of town. We figured it wasn't a dog, then! LOL!

We stayed up a while, in case it ran past our house, but it didn't. They were herding it in the direction of our house. I kept thinking we should get back to bed, though, since Sarah was finally sleeping.

My husband got an email about a family who spent days building a fancy play set/swing set for their childs birthday. It showed them building and the last shot was the day of the birthday taken from a window as they were planning to go play on it. Instead, the photo was the set w/ about4-5 bears USING the slide, climbing rocks and even the swing! It was so funny and sad at the same time. The bears knew exactly how to use it.
