Another Question About Invitations
My DS Michael has made Eagle Scout and we are holding his Court of Honour on Sunday, April 29th. He has decided that he does not want people to bring gifts. He said just celebrating with his family and friends is enough. He wants to state that on the invitation, and he wants to ask that, in lieu of gifts, that each guest bring a non-perishable food item for the local food bank. (He's a great kid and we are very proud of him). I don't know how to word that, since I have always believed that etiquette states that NO mention of gifts should ever be made on an invitation. (Heidi, you have gotten some real doozies from people that apparently have never read Emily Post. LOL!) I would love suggestions on how to word the invitation. Thanks so much, as always.
Maybe at the bottom of the invitation say.. In lieu of gifts we will have a table set up for non-perishable food items to be donated to the local food bank.
That is exactly what I would say, Hol.. In lieu of.... or maybe, Michael request that in lieu of.... And I think that it is a great idea... You should be proud...
Ditto the others. What a great idea!
Michael sounds like a wonderful young man, Hol. You must be so proud!:-)
Very cool Hol! My son just got his arrow of light and spent last night talking about his path to eagle. What a great accomplishment, you should be very proud.
Congrats to Michael!
Thanks all. We ARE very proud of him.
