St. Patrick's Day Milkshake
Hey guys! I haven't been around because I am feverishly working on my dissertation and gave up forums for Lent. However, I popped on because I needed the instructions for St. Paddy's Day shakes that someone (Tink, I think) posted last year. They turned green when you stirred them and there was a chocolate coin at the bottom of the glass. I don't remember the specifics though. The kids have asked for them again this year and a websearch turned up nothing. If you know what I'm talking about, please post. Miss you guys and "see" you in a few weeks! P.S., I have some BIG news when I come back. I'm gonna be "neighbors" with one of you.
Oh come now...do tell??!! You can't just tease us like that. I missed the milkshake recipe last year. I really would like to make these too. I will be checking back for the recipe ...
It was me, Pam. You've got a good memory! Put two or three drops of green food coloring in the bottom of a cup. Place a foil-covered chocolate coin on top of the coloring. Smash a couple of scoops of vanilla ice cream on top of that (enough to fill the cup 2/3's of the way). Add a little milk and let your dks stir. The shake will "magically" turn green and, after the shake is gone, they'll find the leprechaun gold! Happy St. Paddy's Day!
Thanks so much Tink!! Back in April...
Tink, I am going to buy the ingredients for this today! How cute.
Hurry back. Now you have left us hanging! Oh yeah, the shake sounds interesting. We even have mint chocolate chip ice cream in the house! Stirring by hand would have to suffice. My plastic blender jar broke recently and I just ordered a new one, so they won't be able to make smoothies, while they are home on break. My blender is old and ancient, since probably Gary and I were first married, but it makes such good smoothies, I almost don't want to buy a new one! It tackles frozen bananas and strawberries, with ease! I have had the plastic jar for a long time, and we made plenty of smoothies in that time period.
Dawn, what brand blender do you have? I have my moms vitamix that is super powerful. But I've never seen one on the market similar and at a reasonable cost.
My blender is an Oster, from WAY back! The base is yellow, if that tells you anything! LOL!
