Can Anyone Recommend a Karaoke Machine?
My almost eleven year old dreams of fame being both a singer and an author. This fame will allow her to live in San Francisco AND HAVE CABLE. Cable is VERY important since mean Mommy and Daddy have said NO CABLE EVER. ANYway, her birthday is coming up and I know she'd love a karaoke machine and it would come in VERY handy for a fun birthday party with her friends. (right now she sings into a flashlight with a pumpkin at the end...but hey, aside from the pumpkin, the base looks like a mic!!) But I don't want to spend a small fortune, either!! Anyone have one? Any advice?
We have the MTV one, it has served us nicely for birthday parties. We finally hooked it up to the big tv and some extra speakers. Personally I would get one that has it's own screen, it is so much easier that way.
I'll get back to you on this one. I'll have to see which brand it is. We have had a couple, but I definitely agree with getting one with it's own screen. My Emily LOVES to sing. She got her first karaoke machine when she turned three! She's been singing since she first started talking. Now she sings in contests, in programs, and in performances! She has tons of fun with the karaoke! You won't be sorry you bought it. I'll check and see which brand we have...it's been a good one and has room for more than one mike in case more than one wants to sing together.
How large a screen are you guys talking?? I know that's extra $$$.
Ours doesn't have a screen at all, it has to be plugged into a tv. Which means I can't take it anywhere without hauling a tv, or even move it out of her room into the playroom. Ours doesn't have two mikes, but that would be nice.
Ours is smaller. The screen is a small screen on the karaoke machine. Like several inches by several inches. But it is definitely sufficient. And we spent about $100-$150 on it. It is small enough to easily be carried here or there, and it can be plugged in anywhere...
Do you know the brand, Adena? Any model numbers?
Ooops! So sorry, Kate! I had forgotten about this with everything happening all at once with my new job! It is called "The Singing Machine". I think we bought it at Radio Shack. It is silver and has a small screen on it. Hope this helps some!
Adena, is it this one? http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2267166&cp=&sr=1&f=Taxonomy%2FTRUS%2F2254197&origkw=karaoke+machine&kw=karaoke+machine&parentPage=search Or this one? http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2267167&cp=&sr=1&f=Taxonomy%2FTRUS%2F2254197&origkw=karaoke+machine&kw=karaoke+machine&parentPage=search Does it have a camera? Does it have a tape deck? Do you know the model number? Are you able to turn the mic up enough to hear your daughter over the music? Is it a seven inch monitor? Thanks!
It is neither of those, but the first one looks really nice! I love the camera option. When we bought Emily's, they didn't offer that on karaoke machines. She has had the same one for about three years. And it is still good as new, so I think the brand is really good. I'm not sure on the model number, it probably isn't even available anymore, but you are able to turn up the sound on the mic, and turn down the volume on the cds. You can also adjust the echo and such which makes the singing louder. It does have a tape deck and a top loading cd player. Not sure on the monitor size... If you go into radio shack or a store such as that, they will let you try one out, or play with it just to see how loud the mic really is... Hope this helps!
