I was such a meanie today!
I was at the store and as I got to my car I noticed that this man was in the driver's seat in the car ahead of me and was slumped over the wheel. I unloaded my groceries and thought, maybe I should see if he's just sleeping or if something is wrong with him. All it took for me was the thought of going home and hearing on the news that a man was found dead in his car in the Meijer parking lot, and I knew I had to see if he was okay. So I tapped on his window, and he woke up and waved to me. I said, though his closed window, that I was just checking to see if he was okay, and he gave me a sign like, yes, I'm okay, thanks. So, I drove away feeling better that I knew he was okay, but then I felt a little bit guilty cuz I ruined his nap!
I think you did the right thing. At least you cared enough to check on him.The other night I stopped by Burger King to pick up some food.I had to go inside because the computer for the drive thru was down. While I was there, one of the workers was on break, sitting in one of the booths. He went into a major seizure of some kind,so another customer (male) held his head down ( to try and keep him from hitting it so hard against the wall)and I did what ever I could untill 911 arrived. And when it was over, the other three teenaged workers was real mad saying he was FAKEING just so he wouldn't have to help clean up the resturant !!
Lisa, you are a caring person! I think you did the right thing. And glad he was okay.
You definitely did the right thing.
I think you did the right thing. If you hadn't checked and then later found out he was dead, you wouldn't have been able to live with yourself. We were at Best Buy once, and an employee had a seizure. His co-workers all knew what to do and handled it very professionally.
You absolutely did the right thing - good for you, to risk minor embarassment in order to be sure someone was safe.
A few years ago a man that lived in the trailer park we use to live died in his car. He worked second shift, felt bad at work, drove home and died right in front of his house from a heart attack. He wasn't found until the next morning. But if they had just though he was sleeping he may very well have sat in that car all day long. It was sad.. His wife and teen kids were in the house asleep and he had been dead outside all night. If he worked over he would sleep on the couch so he wouldn't wake his wife, she works first, so she had no idea that anything was a miss until they knocked on the door to get her up. Anyway, I am glad you checked on him and I would have done the same thing... ^5
