Okay....about that dog...
Remember when I posted that someone across the street leaves their tiny weiner dog outside in the cold for too long? Poor guy has been outside on the back deck for over a half hour now, barking to come back inside (he's at the sliding door) without shelter, and I'm sure it's in the teens with about 4 inches of snow. I'm HIGHLY tempted to knock on their door!!!!
That poor dog. We have a new weiner puppy and when I open the door for him & our other dog to go outside, he will sometimes turn around and go back to his pillow. He does not like the cold. They are such small dogs. I'd be tempted to call animal control. Poor baby.
Back when it was in the 40's I was sure that animal control wouldn't have done anything. But now with the wind chills in the single digits, I am sure you could raise some concern.
I wouldn't do anything tonight. By the time animal control came out the dog could be inside, warm and happy. I would call first thing tomorrow and find out what the criteria is for abuse with such a small dog and cold temps.
Poor dog! My dog weighs 50 pounds and has a good coat of fur. Even though she's a nut case and rolls in the snow and up against the snowy bushes, she is very happy to come back into her warm house again! I would call animal control in the morning. That's too cold to leave him/her outside.
Poor dog! Poor you for having to watch all this. I agree with Annie- find out what is considered abuse and go from there. I hope he's inside by now.
I googled a few websites and found that weiner dogs do not do well in coldweather and in fact should at least have a sweater on when going outside. I'd be tempted to print out cold weather tips for dogs give it to them. poor baby
We had a mini-daschand years ago and her little belly would get REALLY cold if there was ANY snow on the ground at all. Her little legs were so short her belly would drag in the snow! We had to be really careful she wouldn't get frostbite on her belly and we did buy her a sweater (which she hated, but wore). We NEVER left her outside in cold weather. We also had to shovel spots for her to use the bathroom (yes, she was spoiled ). I hope your neighbors either bring her in or you or someone else report them. It's way too cold for that poor little doggie to be out there.
