Consumer reports help--or your favorite knife set
I stopped getting Consumer Reports and I really need to buy a knife set. Ours is always dull and I am so tired of it. Does anyone know if Consumer reports rated knives? Any suggestions? What is your favorite set?
Not sure about CR rated, but we love Henckels knives. They are pricey but will last forever if taken care of properly. We buy a new one every now and then when they are on sale and wash and put them back in the block as soon as we use them. We also bought a set of 6 Wusthof steak knives last year that are to die for.
We also have Henckels knives. We received a set as a wedding gift almost ten years ago and they are still in great shape. I love them!
We too have Henckels knives- wedding gift. I love them and find them to be one of the best gifts we recieved. You can often get them at outlet malls for a decent price.
1.Henckels Twin Select 2.Henckels Professional "S" 3.Wüsthof Culinar 8907 4.Wüsthof Trident Classic 8418 5.Henckels Four Star I have access to Consumer Reports. These were the top 5 knife sets. These include the four basic knives plus shears, sharpening steel, and block. The Wüsthof (4) adds a bread knife. Both sets are forged. The top-rated Henckels (1) costs far more and has fewer open-stock options.
We have Henckels too. I love them. We got a small set of steak knives 10 years ago, and they are still great. I like them so much, I got a bigger set a few months ago.
Hhhmmm.never heard of Henckels, but from the sounds of it those are probably too expensive for me. We have all of the Pampered Chef knives and I really love them. The steak knife set is wonderful and comes in a case with a built-in sharpener. I think they are around $45-$50 if I remember. We've had them 4-5 years at least. Then I have the chef's knife, the middle knife, and the paring knife. I like them because they all have cases with built-in sharpeners. I never have a dull knife.
Thanks! I will be shopping for the Henckels.
Thank you Dawn! Is there any way you can email me the report? I appreciate it!
done
Yvonne, be sure to get the sharpening tool. It fits right in the block. We don't have the most expensive line, but we are able to purchase open stock if we want to, which suits us. You can buy them @ higher end kitchen stores, or dept. stores, or online. They are well worth it, and the most recent one we bought was the santoku, and it's the one I use the most when cooking now. All of them are sharp, sharp, sharp!
another vote for henckels. We've had them for years.
we have henkels also and chicago cutlery
