Another small reason to love a small town

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2007: Another small reason to love a small town

Apparently, the mailman - who knows our family, realizes that my fil is having a very hard time over the loss of mil, so I've noticed, he's been putting her magazines - family circle, good housekeeping, in my mailbox instead of his - we live right next door, our mailboxes are side by side. I don't think this would happen if we were in the city.

aaawwww...how thoughtful. it most definitely would not happen in a bigger town.

That is so sweet of him. And, yes one of the great things about living in a small town.

Awww.

What an amazing and thoughtful thing for him to do. Our mailman and postmaster in the town I grew up in would have done something like that. Sometimes small towns are great. :)

I don't live in a small town, but our mailman who has a foot route, would carry boxes up to elderly people's second floor apartments. When he noticed that the mailbox of one elderly resident wasn't being emptied, he called the president of our neighborhood association to find someone who knew the woman and could check on her. I think good caring people live in cities and towns of all sizes.
