You Won't Believe This!
After all that I have been thru this past month, today of all days (we're having 10 people over for dinner tonight) I slammed my middle finger on my right hand in the patio door. The nail is completely black and the pad of my finger is leaking tissue. I must have some seriously bad karma. My neighbour is a nurse practioner and I called her, she let me know that it is ok to mix Advil and Tylenol 3 as one is processed thru the kidneys and the other thru the liver, thank goodness as I took 2 Advil right away but it wasn't even touching the pain. About 1/2 an hour later I took the Tylenol and it's finally starting to feel better. She told me to ice it or soak it in cold water, there is no way I can do that it makes it hurt like crazy. No Martinis for me tonight. This sucks.
Oh, ouch!!! I'm so sorry. {{{{{Heaventree}}}}}
It may make it hurt like crazy, but it will keep down the swelling, which will hurt even worse. Sorry to say (having BTDT) you may have to have a hole drilled in the nail or even have the nail removed to get rid of the accumulated blood and fluid underneath it, because that presses on very sensitive nerves and extends the healing time. Lots of sympathy for your poor finger, and your deprivation (though I prefer Scotch to martinis). I applaud your wisdom in deciding to refrain from adding alcohol to the OTC medications.
Oh poor you You certainly have been through the ringer. I think Ginny is right, you may have to have a hole drilled in the nail. (((((hugs)))))
ewww what Ginny said seriously made me cringe! Sorry to hear about your nail and lack of martini's tonight
I had to have just that done years ago when I slammed my finger in the door. Honestly, once the nail was drilled, it relieved the pressure that was causing really unbearable pain. Maybe you should consider it? Hope you feel better soon!
Ouch!! You have had rotten luck lately!! I had to have this done too. Like Karen said, it was actually much less painful once they did it.
Bless your heart. I am so sorry. My sister slammed hers in a car door many years ago and she took a hot needle (mom heated it with a lighter) and pricked her nail releasing the blood (pressure)... ugh I hope your finger feels better soon. My friend that moved here a week after we did, slammed hers in a car door about 2 days after they arrived in costa rica. She ended up having to have stitches. She and I have both had a string of bad luck lately so can totally relate to your frustration!!!! ;) (((HUGS!!)))
Ouch.
OOOps! Doesn't it just make you want to SCREAM? (click here!)
Heaven, I'm so sorry! I can't imagine how painful. I wonder how you were able to get through your night. I hope you are okay.
You poor thing. {{{Hugs}}}
Oh Gosh, Heaven, if it weren't for bad luck, you'd have no luck at all! Hope things will be better soon. Ouch!
Karen, didn't you smash your hand just a few months ago, and have to have surgery?
Well my finger is much better and won't need a hole drilled as I swished the pad of the finger pretty good and it has a hole in it so that kept it from swelling up too badly. The bad news is despite my best efforts my UTI is back and I'm still taking my meds. I've stopped asking "what's next" or saying "it can't get any worse" because it keeps getting worse. I'll have the doctor look at my poor finger when I go back and see him for my never ending UTI. Oh and Lisa, that picture was too funny.
Yes, Hol, I fell in the tub while cleaning it and landed on it. Totally different thing. LOL
Thanks, Heaven. That's my cat Nikki. I caught the picture in the middle of a yawn!
Eek, Heaven! I simply can't believe it!!! UTI's are no fun. I had one when Scott came back in Nov. (I forgot to pee after sex...grrrr...) Thank God for nice OBGYN's who call pharmacies in the middle of the night! I HATE UTI's!!! How is your finger feeling today?
