PAXIL- A bad thing for pregnant women
I was taking paxil while I was pregnant with my 3rd child. I had postpatrum depression with my 2nd child. So I didn't want to suffer with my 3rd. This was about 4 yrs ago. Now I read a e-mail newsletter from WebMD, saying that taking Paxil while pregnant can cause birth defects ad heart defects in the unborn child. My 3rd child was born with to heart defects. One almot killed him when he came out. He had open hear surgery when he was 5 days old. I am very upset about this news. Shame on the pharmacutecuil companies. They need to do longer studies on drugs before releasing them. Did anybody go through what I went through. Sincerely, Kimberly
This post is in the wrong place. I am going to move it to the General board.
If you truly believe Paxil was the cause of your son's heart defects - and I have no reason to think otherwise - you might want to consult an attorney. Here's a link to the FindLaw page about Paxil, with links to lots of information. I would guess that there are some big law firms that are handling or contemplating class action lawsuits on this issue. FindLaw
I agree with Ginny.. Contact an attorney..
Yes, i have seen commercials recently about lawsuits regarding this exact thing.
Rayelle, If you don't mind. Can you tell me where you live. I'm trying to find lawsuits already in progress. Thank you. Kimberly
It's all so scary. I have seen commercials for this, and also for one of the newer birth control patches causing some very bad things. This is on my mind lately anyway. I have an appt on Tuesday to discuss with my doctor about getting off of Effexor so we can TTC. I'm a nervous wreck about not being on any medications for anxiety. We'll see how this all goes. Hope that you are able to find the research you need, Kimberly. Sorry to hear about your baby.
I wanted to let everybody know that I did find a lawyer who has done these cases. I will get all the paperwork tomorrow. He said my case is a million dollar case. I really don't care about the money so much as seeing justice done for what happen to my son. I will keep everybody updated. Thanks for the support. Kimberly
Kim, there are a couple of things you should look for in the paperwork - the percentage of recovery the attorney charges, who pays for specialist medical examinations needed to establish your son's medical condition, and whether the law firm wants you to advance costs (i.e., pay for getting copies of medical records). Another key point is whether this attorney is a member of a large law firm with experience in "class action" law suits (which is what this is), or if he is a local attorney who is going to refer your case to one of the large class action firms and split the attorneys fee with them. If you have questions, email me at klipvm at rcn dot com. I presently work in a medium sized law firm where I am doing plaintiff personal injury (and no, my law firm would not touch your case), and worked for a couple of years for a major medical malpractice law firm in Philadelphia. Class action medical malpractice suits require a great deal of money to prosecute successfully - much of it going for medical experts - and is handled best by law firms with experience in this particular area of law.
