Birthday survey (just for fun)
Do you serve ice cream with cake? Do you clap and cheer after the birthday candle is blown out? I've always done both, but recently went to party where neither happened. I felt a little silly clapping when no one else was, but the birthday boy just turned 13 and I thought it was still appropiate. LOL
Sometimes we have ice cream with the cake, sometimes not. If it were a big party, than yes, we would have ice cream. Just us at home, usually not. And yes, we clap after blowing out the candles!
We usually don't have ice cream with the cake, then again, we just started having birthdays. dsons will be turning 4 and 2 in April. We do clap after candles are blown out.
We usually have ice cream, unless we are doing a party at the park, which has been quite often. Then, we usually don't, because our birthdays are in July! We always clap and cheer after blowing out the candles!
We always have ice-cream with the cake. We always clap after the birthday child blows out their candles.
We serve ice cream and clap after the birthday song.
my son turned 25 saturday and we had cake ice cream and sang happy bday to him and clapped and yahoooed and the whole works and then everone wished him a lot more happy bdays.
sometimes we have ice cream with cake, sometimes we don't. I guess it just depends on if i feel like picking up ice cream from the store or not. We always clap and say "yeayy!" after the candle are blown out. Well, we say "yeayyy" for the kids. The adults don't usually get the "yeayy" LOL
We do not have ice cream with cake but sometimes we have ice cream cake We always sing and clap--for ALL family members.
Yes usually to both = )
We always do both.
Ditto Bellajoe on everything.
We just have cake. I'm strange and really don't like ice cream with cake. Some years my DS's don't like to be sung to (and if you do sing they cry through it).. but when we sing we always clap.
No ice cream here, we sing, but no clapping.
No ice cream here, we sing, lots of clapping!
We just sing Happy Birthday. I don't think we have ever clapped, after candles are blown out! I think we usually don't have ice cream. That would take more planning.
We do ice cream and clap!
Wow, so many non ice cream people! Does this mean it's acceptable to skip it?? I hate ice cream with cake...we serve it for other people though. We do clap after singing.
Okay, call me a kid at heart, but my dad (62) and I (37) share birthday parties every year (our birthdays are 3 days apart, no biggie to me) and we STILL clap and cheer when we blow out the candles (usually just number candles). Ice cream in still served with cake, but now we have a couple of different flavors and get out the chocolate syrup, too.
We do the "whole nine yards", cake, ice cream, candles, singing and clapping!! The kids expect it, and would be dissappointed if we did anything less.

Sorry about the double post! Woops!
We have cake and ice cream but seems like alot of people will ask for just cake or just ice cream. Singing, clapping and yahooing are always accompanied.
