I got a EGD test done today and its confirmed that between my hubby and this Hpylori i have a ulcer that will be treated with drugs. I hope its not long term and will heal. Tho i know nothing about ulcers just the addage that u dont eat spicey food or drink milk ... i eat tums like they are candy ( about 400 a month) thats ona bad month some are worse than others. that goes with the stress of my family ...mainly my husband grrrrrr thats a nother post another day.

I'm so sorry to hear this, Jewlz. My mom also developed an ulcer when she had H. Pylori. The good news is that the bacteria won't cause cancer, if you develop an ulcer instead. I hope the meds help you feel better soon.

My DS Shawn had h pylori this past summer. I have no idea where he got it. He went on a prescription called a PrevPak. It was three capsules all at once, twice a day for two weeks (or was it four?). Then, he got scoped and they found some irriration in his stomach lining, so they put him on a prescription drug called Protonix. It helps keep the acid under control after the bacteria is killed off. He is cured. He has no more pain as long as he remembers to take his Protonix everyday.

Jewlz, wasn't yours from your stomach by-pass surgery? I KNOW how "ulcer causing" husbands can be, tho. Sometimes they are downright TOXIC! LOL!

400 a month! Goodness :0. I'm glad they found the problem and that it is treatable. Get well soon.

Wow, hope you feel better soon.

Jewlz, what about trying Prevacid, or something else like it? Tums cause a rebound effect. The more you take, the more you need.
I hope you feel better soon!

the gastric by pass they say had nothing to do with the ulcer cuz of the position it is in. im on prevacid twice a day 30 milligram and now this reggae ( sp) twice a day. i should have said i have taken up to 400 in one month some days are better than others depending on what i eat lol ( i laff cuz of my diet is limited anyways) and the stress factors of my life. I hope this duznt last long i hate this feeling.thanks for caring everyone sometimes its just hard to deal with life. I hate being sick cuz i want to live and experience all i havent

Well, I sure hoe they are able to make you feel better. I had stomach problems for a while, and it really is awful. And my son has had problems since kindergarten and is still on medication. Even with meds, it can sometimes act up.

I sure hope you do great now!

I understood from Shawn's GI doctor that h pylori is a bacteria that must be eradicated in order for the stomach to heal. The PrevPak IS Prevacid, plus two different antibiotics.

The Dr did say that one way that h pylori is spread is through flies. Gross! He says he sees more of it in the summer because people eat outside more. However, a lot of us have it in our gut and it never bothers us.
