I Got a Job!!!
My DS's have been with me for over four years now, and have had my undivided attention. They had a lot of lost time to make up for, not having a Mom. They love me, and are very dependent on me still. Even tho they are 18 and 19, they still don't drive, so I drive them everywhere, and they are content to be homebodies, with me. My DH works for the Post Office and they are in the middle of a nationwide audit, looking for ways to save money. They are talking about cutting his hours in 2007, and he is all worked up about it. He is retired military so we do get a modest pension. He has been bugging me to find a job to fill in the gaps. I knew that I was restricted by how many hours I could work per week (no more than 20). I applied for a job at the local hospital as an evening scheduler. I went for an interview, but never heard back. Then, a man in church who I have known he and his wife for four years (they are adoptive parents, too), approached me. He said that his wife had told him that I was looking for a job, and he gave me his business card and told me to call him. I put it off, and yet I didn't want to go back to hairdressing because my knees are bad. Well, he called me, and asked me to come see him at a specified time. I went and he made me a phenomenal offer. He owns a human resource consulting firm, and he needed a marketing person, twenty hours a week. I can do it from the office (which is beautiful), or I can do it from home. The pay is fantastic and I can make my own hours. He is extremely nice, too, and wants happy employees. I started this week and I love it. I love the people I work with. I need a new car because Mike, my youngest DS is getting his learners permit. When he gets his license, I am going to sell him my car and buy a new one. I feel so blessed. I have always told DH that God provides. He knows what you need, when you need it. I am very grateful.
CONGRATS!!!!
congratulations Hol i'm so glad you are enjoying it too....and yes he does provide what we need not always what we want mind you = )
Congrats, Hol!! What a difference it makes to be able to get out and do something, and I don't just mean for the money. I know that my mental health is so much better when I'm able to break free from being at home all the time. Enjoy!
Wow, Hol that's amazing. Congratulations, you sound so happy.
Holy Job! Literally, the first thing that came to mind as I was reading your post was that this is God watching out for you.
YAAAAAAAH!!!!!! Way to go. I work 19 hrs a week and I LOVE it.I'm limited with where I can go with 3 babies so getting out of the house for some ME time is great, and I get paid doing it LOL I'm glad things are looking up for you
Hol, I'm so happy for you! Congratulations! It sounds like you are really going to enjoy this position. I know I would benefit from a part time job. Staying home is wonderful, but I miss having a time away from the house and meeting new people. Enjoy your new job!
Thanks all! I have my own desk in a nice, wide open office with lots of windows and an ocean view. It's very quiet, which lends itself to concentration. My job is to send out literature and follow up with the client by phone to book an appointment with my boss. We do human resource consulting, which is to go into companies and audit their HR department to tell them where they need services, be it in training, staffing, documentation, record keeping, etc.. We also print employee handbooks and pull and screen resumes. It is interesting. On top of my salary, my boss will pay me a bonus for every comapny that agrees to meet with him. I spent the day today trying to learn how to do spreadsheets in Excel. I'm sure that I will get the hang of it but it is hard for "old dogs" to learn new tricks. LOL! You are so right about it helping your mental health. I love my guys so much but they are SO dependent on me that it is nice to have just a few hours away. And I can work at home, too. I have always trusted God to provide and He always has. And the fact that we met this couple four years ago in church makes it even more special. One of their adopted sons was being baptized. I heard the pastor say that that was the first day that Owen called himself by THEIR last name. When I realized that they were adoptive parents, too, I introduced myself and a friendship blossomed. Carolyn calls me her "other" sister. Lisa...I like that "Holy Job". LOL! Yes, God is looking out for us. The nice thing, too, is that there are five of us in the office and we are all people of faith. My boss is a devout born again Christian.
Congratulations, Hol! Your new career sounds perfect in so many ways!
That is wonderful news... I hope it turns into a long term blessing. ^5
Sounds like the perfect position for you.
