Mp3 players?
Does anyone know anything about these things? My DS wants one for christmas and I have no idea what I am looking for or a price? Any help would be appreciated. TIA
Did he have his eye on one in particular? Ask him which kind of MP3 he has in mind. Maybe one of his buddies has one that he likes and then go from there... Sorry I am not much help. We have had several different brand of MP3 players and imo they were all good.
It might depend on whether or not he wants a particular brand. The iPod is without a doubt the most popular player, and if your ds is brand conscious, that might be the one he will want.
I have a RCA that is great, it was under $100, and has 1gig of memory, it charges through a USB port, so no batteries, the only thing I haven't been able to figure out is playlists. I bought Nate one by Rio that is very sturdy, and has an armband, his had much less memory, but could hold a mem card. Honestly, an iPod is way more expensive than all the other ones on the market, and not for any good reason other than brand name, IMO. Good luck!!! Also, I bought N's on overstock.com, it was less than $60.
I just got my son an RCA one. It's probably not that great. It was cheap but does charge through the USB port. It is only 512MB but he's only 7 and will probably lose it.
I'm only familiar with the video ipod. We like ours.
We are an ipod family. I have a shuffle, one son has a shuffle, one son has a nano and my hubby has a video. Ultimately once one of you has an ipod, you will want to stick with that brand, because the music downloaded from that sight is not compatible. I love our ipods because of ease of use. We have playlists for every one, and my hubby has sub playlists for him, like car songs, new songs, etc. We take his in the car and go. My 8 year old can charge and change songs on his own shuffle with no issues. So for pricing...a shuffle, which is the sturdiest has no screen is 1gb cost about 70 dollars. A nano, which is the most popular cost from 150-250 based on the memory, the silver one is the cheapest and has 2gb, the cool colors they advertise have 4 gb they are 200, and black is most expensive with 8 gb. The video runs about 250 it has something crazy in memory like 30 gb (but not sure). I would not buy a young kid a video. I used to think these were expensive object to lose, but now I see it isn't that different than what they were doing. My son was carrying a cd player and 10-15 cd's with him, so he had all this extra stuff to carry.
I love my ipod and I got my older dd one for her birthday and she loves it too. I also got my younger dd a MP3 Player for her birthday and it is a scandisk (sp) and it is great. It does take a battery but it was only 65 and is 1G. It is easy to use. If your son is wanting an ipod I would look into the nano or the shuffle the video is a little much for a kid IMO (depending on age). The reason we didn't get Jordan and ipod is because I have a feeling she will lose it or break it and I wanted to see if she could take care of this one first before i forked over that much money. Good luck...
I found one. I am so excited. My girlfriend works for sears electronics and she sold me one that was on clearence. It was a samsung for 139.99 and I got it for 44.00 Yeah! I can't believe it I never have that kind of luck. Thanks for all of your help.
