STILL SHAKING!!!!
Shawn and I left tonight about 8:30 to pick up Mike at work, about a twenty minute ride. We live in the boondocks, so the ride is dark country roads with no street lights. About 3 miles from home, on the main route, I saw a car stopped with the brake ligts on, and in front of him was a HUGE tree that had come down accross the road. I got out and asked the young man in the car if he had called the police. He had not. Then he told me that, if he had been a second faster, that it would have come down accross his car. I guess it was just rotted and the wind was just right. Well, as we are talking on this pitch black road, another car comes along, at a good clip, from the opposite direction and smashes right into it. I called the police who also put me through to the EMS so I could give them the location. The driver of the smashed car was also a young man. Thank goodness, he was able to get out of his car. The police and EMS came, as well as the fire dept to cut up the tree with chainsaws and clear the road. EMS took the kid to the ambulance and checked him out. In the meantime, the driver of the first car had turned around and left quickly. He seemed nervous about having the police come. Maybe he had something (drugs?) in the car that he didn't want the police to know about? It could have been a LOT worse. No serious injuries. However, there is one sad looking Chevy something with a smashed windshild, broken headlights, and fluids leaking out of it. I couldn't believe what I was seeing when he came barrelling down the street.
Oh ugh. You just wouldn't expect a tree to be in the road like that! {{{HUGS}}}
Wow, glad everyone was okay!
Ditto above!!
