No period with new BCP
I've been on a new pill for about 4-5months and I love it. Each month however, my period is the most irregular it has ever been. Sporadic during the 'period' week and this month, one day of extremely light bleeding and then nothing else. I called my gyn today to see if this is normal or if I should be concerned. They said that my pill has a 6-8% rate of women who experienced amenorheaa (sp?) while on it. She said that it's very likely that it's thinning out the lining of my uterus so much that it's just maintaining that so there is nothing to shed. She said it's not a health concern. I think it's great, personally. They did recommend that I take a preg test just to be safe, but I don't feel pregnant at all. I did take one and it's negative (hallelujah), but prior to this weekend, I had not had intercourse for about 6 weeks, right before my LAST period. Pregnancy was never a concern, just if the "no period" was okay. What do you all think about not having a period? Going anon just because I don't want to share info about my personal life.
I'm on Depo Provera and I love not having a period. Every once in awhile, once or twice a year maybe I have a long period of light bleeding but heck, that's a great tradeoff in my mind.
What is the name of the birth control? I would like to try something different. Unschoolmom-I was considering Depo but haven't heard anything good about it except missed periods.I heard it causes weight gain/osteoporosis(sp)and has been linked to breast cancer. There is heart problems in my family and with my age I'm not sure I want to risk the birth control pill.I thought about an IUD but I'm not sure about that route either. It's more for lessening my periods.I would love not to have a period anymore. The pill is Yaz and I LOVE IT!! I have so much energy and the hormonal effects seem to have gone by the wayside. It's great, which is one reason I don't want to switch. It only has 4 days of sugar pill vs. 7, so you get an extra 3 days of BCP each month. I believe it's the first and only pill to do that. I felt a change in the first week I took it and have felt great ever since. I will love not having a period, and from what I've read and what my doctor said, it's no big deal.I was thinking lastnight.. if we're talking about being natural, I wouldn't be on the pill anyway, right? That's completely not natural. I was just wondering what you all thought about it. Thanks for the input ladies! Anon#1
I would be nervous every month without a period. I have never minded mine too much, but I would be worried I was pregnant without my period to tell me that I wasn't.
Me too! LOL! I tried the pill, for a few months, when I first got married. I went three months without a period and I was a nervous wreck. I went off the pill and never went on again! Most likely a different pill would have worked better, but I didn't want to try.
