2 medical questions
My 2 yr old has Strep Throat and was running a pretty high fever yesterday and the day before. His whole body was really red, which I just assumed was the fever. Today he isn't running as high of one, its only about 99 now. But his body is still red. Is this just a symptom of the strep? Next question.... Has anyone had any experience with infected sweat glands? I have been to the doctor 3 times since August, because under my arm and on the side of my breast is real sore and when I put my arm down I feel like there is something swollen under there, I don't actually feel a knot, but it is very tender to the touch. The doctor told me to change deoderants and put me on antibotics (sp?) which seemed to clear it up everytime, but it is back now and I am just concerned as to why it keeps coming back. I am waiting to go to my OB doctor, but our military insurance is about to change and my ob doctor won't take the insurance until after it does, which is Dec. 1. Should I wait or go back to the regular doctor? I am always full of questions, aren't I!!!
Did you call the doctor about the redness? I am thinking that strep throat can lead to scarlet fever and that could explain the redness. The second part I am not sure of, but would call the doctor about it for sure.
The last time my DD had strep she hardly had a fever, but the minute the doctor pulled up her shirt and saw she had a redness to her trunk area, he knew it was strep, just had to confirm it with the test! So, yes, a redness is a symptom of strep, but, as a remember, it didn't last very long once she started taking the antibiotics. I would definitely call the doctor, though.
When I was about 12 I ended up with scarleteena (sp?) after having strep and a really high fever. That is the precursor to scarlet fever. You need to call the dr. Goo luck and I hope he feels better soon...
I would call the doctor, about your 2yo and is there some sort of doctor you cold call about the infected sweat gland. I just think that if you ignore the infection, it's just going to get worse. Do you have a primary doctor? Is there an urgent care or walk-in clinic you could go to?
I did talk with my sons doctor yesterday and he said it was just a strep rash, not to worry. Thanks guys, as always, for listening.
