Can Anyone Recommend a Portable DVD Player?
My DD 10 wants one. This wouldn't be for the car, so headrest straps aren't important. It is, however, important that it be 'cool' looking. We're not looking to spend more than $150. Thanks!
I don't know about cool looking because ours are just plain and silver but they have pretty good quality pictures for the price (a few years ago they were $179). It is a Panasonic. The girls absolutely love them. We decided to not get on of the dvd systems put in our van and get 2 protable DVD players to keep them from fighting.
Thanks, Tara! Anyone else?
Who does she like, a lot of chracters and actresses, raven, lizzy maguire, hillary duff, etc. doe she like bratz, hello kitty, I think you get the idea, they have these in cd players also. you can find portable dvd players with them on there and still spend under 100 for them.
Ours is just plain, my kids never comment about the look, my 11 year dd bought it with her money. I would stay away from the character ones because they will outgrow that. I would get one with a large screen and clear picture. Make sure you watch it from an angle, so if she is sharing it with a friend both can see it. Some are made that you can only view straight on.
I agree with Kaye, kids outgrow characters very quickly. And the screen size and clarity is more important than what the outside looks like.
I picked one up at BJ's several months ago. I don't remember the make or model, but it's plain silver and was $200. I went for the biggest screen I could get for the buck. It's great and the kids love it.
Make sure you avoid Polaroid DVD players. We've had two (one was sent back because it broke and they sent us a new one) and my brother had one. All three broke without a lot of use. I know Toys R Us and BJ's carry some at reasonable prices. Good luck!
