CBS Evening News
Tomorrow night Gillette is going to be on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, they were here a few weeks ago to film. We have such a huge need for workers here in Gillette and other towns in WY so we have been hosting job fairs in MI. I am not sure that it is going to make us look to great, because I have a feeling it is going to talk about the housing problems we have here, and they are big problems. We have people living in motels & motor homes because we don't have enough median & lower income housing. When you look in the paper there is nothing to rent & when there is rentals they are pretty expensive. This is a big thing for Gillette, lol, can tell we are a small town. In todays paper there were 71 jobs, 2 apartments for rent, 1 mobile home & 2 houses for rent. The cheapest rental was $450 a month for a room in someones house.
Wow! Sounds like a great place for Habitat for Humanity to move into. Hopefully the higher-ups in that organization will see this and offer to help. What about the companies that are desperate for workers? Any chance of them pooling together to build employee housing? If I can catch it, I will. Ame
