Quick Costume Dilemma
Some of you may have seen my post on the Prayer board about a mom, the mom of one of the boys in my son's class. (Read my post on the Prayer Board) This is in regard to her. I bought my son's costume about a month ago, and along with it I bought myself a wig, just something goofy to wear at school for the class party. (Last year, one of the teachers dressed up as a werewolf!) It's supposed to look like a Hollywood movie star's hair, but even though I combed it out, it still just looks goofy. So a couple of days ago I got on the phone with this mom who wanted to help with the party treats and she told me a lot about herself, I mean, A LOT - including about her bout with uterine cancer and her surgery next week. I have asked her about chemo, and she said she doesn't know if she'll need it or not, it's a wait and see thing. So, knowing that she has cancer, and knowing that she will be there tomorrow, and knowing that the possibility exists that she may lose all of HER hair at some point in the future, would I be insensitive if I went ahead and wore this wig? I mean, I have had it for a while, since before I ever spoke to her. But knowing what I know now, I don't want to be insensitive to her feelings. Should I not wear the wig, or should I expect that she will be able to deal with it? BTW, my son is expecting me to wear it. He has been playing with it this whole time.
She hasn't started chemo yet and still has all of her hair. I think you should go ahead and wear the wig. It is Halloween, after all.
I think it is ok to wear it.
Wear it.
Yes, wear it. It is Halloween, I doubt that she would even think twice about it. have fun!
Wear it, it won't even cross her mind.
It's great that you are sensitive about her feelings. But, go ahead and wear it. Have fun!
Thanks, gals! As it turned out, she got sick and couldn't come to school, so I went to her house to lick up the treats that she had prepared, and didn't put my wig on until I got to school.
uh- that should have been PICK UP the treats!
