Girls' Night Out

Girls' Night Out
I'm trying to plan one of these for a group of my friends and I'm having trouble coming up with anything other than dinner and a movie. None of us are the "go and get trashed at a bar" type and it should probably last 3-4 hours, maximum, since my DH is taking care of our dks plus four of my friends' children. Any ideas for doing something out of the ordinary but that would be fun within those time limits?
How about a comedy club? Do you have one in your area? Our last Moms night out was at the Funny Bone comedy club. It was something different then a movie or dinner, and we all had a lot of fun.
Go paint some pottery, bowling, go to a play, have a murder mystery night, etc. You'll have fun no matter what you do!
Are there any mini-golf places around?
Bingo!
Perhaps a winery where you can taste test wine and eat dinner? a restaurant where you can sit outside and eat and drink is usually better than a restaurant or bar because outside you can hear each other better. My friends and i have given up on the going out thing, we just go to each other's houses and have some food and wine and just chat and laugh the night away. We always have a blast no matter where we go.
To add to the good ideas given above... My local Newcomers Club planned a spa night last year at a new spa that had just opened in town. It was so much fun! We each paid $15 and got a mini facial, massage and makeup application. While we waited for our turns we chatted while enjoying wine with fruit, cheese and crackers. It was such a success that we want to do it again this year. The spa owners liked it because it generated new business.
Do you like to play pool?
I like the painting pottery idea...that is always fun!
WOW! These are some great ideas. I may just poll my friends with these options and see which one has the best response. I don't know if we have a pottery places around here but I'd love to investigate that. I also thought of going to a bead store and making our own jewelry. Patti, we're about an hour from wine country but I don't know if we can get up there, eat and wine-taste and get home as soon as I'd like to. We also have one control-freak husband that I have to tiptoe around (he won't take care of his boys so my DH is watching them. *eyeroll*) and I don't think he'd be ok with his wife being so far away. The only comedy club I know of is just a small stage in a bar and it's pretty chaotic and loud. I need to look around a little and see if I can find another in this area. I'm so looking forward to this! Thanks to all of you.
