Britax Companion Recall
Britax Child Safety, Inc. announced today they are conducting a voluntary recall of Companion child restraints, model #E9L14, produced from October 31, 2003 through June 2, 2004. No other model is affected. One or both of two tabs on the bottom of the carrier may not be properly seated and may allow the carrier to rotate in the base too far in a crash. Correct/incorrect assembly can be determined by visual examination. Owners of Companion restraints can call Britax Consumer Services at 1-888-4BRITAX (1-888-427-4829) to determine if their restraint is affected and to obtain the new restraint system if needed. Affected units may be installed without the base until receiving a replacement. Britax has also posted a “Companion Infant Restraint Model # E9L14 - inspection instructions video” on their Recall Information page: http://www.britaxusa.net/support/recall.aspx
