I think I need a new refrigerator
Last night I went to get ice cream from the freezer and it was soft. I checked the temperature controls and everything was normal, but I changed the settings anyway. When the compressor kicked on, it was loud and sounded like something was vibrating. I checked the owner's manual and found the receipt. I laughed when I read that the compressor had a 10 year warranty because... it has been exactly 10 years and 5 months since I bought it! I did check this morning and the ice cream was frozen and the motor was running quietly. But, now I'm worried that it's less energy efficient and costing more money to run and am thinking my best bet would be to buy a new one. Of course, I'm also worried it's going to go kaput on me and I'll be forced to buy a new fridge before I'm ready. Does anyone have the French door refrigerators with the freezer on the bottom like this: I went looking to day and found one I like, I just need to figure out whether to buy it now or try and wait it out and buy a new one after the new year.
I have one like this with an ice maker on the door. I just got it at the beginning of the summer. I LOVE IT! Mine has the shelves in the freezer that slide back, so it has lots of room. I love having the refrigerator on top.
We have one similar to that one. Ours has flitered ice water on the left fridge door (outside) and the ice maker in the freezer. I do like having the freezer on the bottom, but for some reason, the fridge part seems smaller than my old one. LOL Don't know why, but it does. Other than that, I love it!! We put our old one in the garage for pop and stuff, so I have plenty of space if I need it for something.
