What Concerts Have You Seen?
My first concert was Brian Adams when he was no one, at the end of the concert he threw a t-shirt into the crowd and it landed on my head, when it hit the floor the jerk next to me stole it. I also saw Red Rider, they were a big bore, but I do like them just not in concert. April Wine - in a park, I think I was still in grades school, so that would have been before Brian Adams. Next concert, Trooper! Wow that was so long ago. When I moved to Vancouver I had an opportunity to see more concerts: Def Leopard and Urhrea Heap (sp?) a very old band. They were both awesome. Yes - was actually a good concert. In Montreal I saw, Billy Idol, Guns N' Roses, there was a riot in the stadium because they were 3 hours late, Metallica finished early as the lead singer was injured from some pyro stuff then GNR came on and only played 3 songs and left the stage. The place went wild and when they started to light things on fire we decided it was time to leave. Also saw, Chris Deburg, his stage and light was incredible and Poveriaty (sp?), he shusshed the audience when they were applauding because he wanted to say something, he was wonderful though. Meatloaf, was ok but they don't really have a long list of songs, just long songs. LOL Melissa Ethridge twice, she is awesome in concert. The Cranberries, I love them, sang along with every song. Zombie was my favourite. In Toronto I saw: Blue Rodeo a few times, Tragically Hip, Sheryl Crow, Super Tramp and Shania Twain. At the Hip concert I decided to go into the maush (sp?) pit as I was 30 at the time and thought, it would be my first and last time. I was right, I screamed so loud I'm sure the band could hear me on stage. So okay your turn, date youself, what concerts have you seen?
I love April Wine! Wow, what a blast from my past. LOL! Bands I've seen in concert (in no particular order): Nazareth Blackfoot AC/DC BOC Sammy Hagar Molly Hatchet Rush Aerosmith (3x) Kiss Cheap Trick Run DMC Kid Rock I must be forgetting a few. Definitely dating myself. LOL!
Randy Travis(when he opened for Barbara Mandrell) Barbara Madrell Alabama Oak Ridge Boys Hank Williams Jr. - Kid Rock Alan Jackson Faith Hill Tim McGraw Toby Keith - Kid Rock Ted Nuggent Kid Rock - Sheryl Crow Can you tell I love Country music. I know there are more but not sure who I cannot remember.
The only ones most of you have probably heard of are James Taylor and the Gogos--LOL. I also took the kids to see Aaron Carter. I'm not a big concert fan--too loud and too crowded. When we went to Aaron Carter I wore earplugs and made my kids wear them too. When we went to the bathroom I had other moms begging for them.
I go to obscure bands George Straight Garth Brooks (before he was big) Restless Heart Canyon (radio romance) Pat Benetar The Judy's (my favorite) Natalie Grant Newsong Down Under Addison Rose
You all have seen a lot more than I have! I'm DYING to see Aerosmith, the greatest band of all time, and they just came near here but 2 tix was $150 and just not in my budget at the moment. DON'T LAUGH, but I saw the New Kids on the Block about 4 times (I was in jr. high and it was like Beatles mania for us!). I also saw a few Christian bands... White Heart, Carmen, Michael W. Smith. (Carmen was outstanding btw). Richard Marx, Yankees, Henry Lee Summer, Bobbie Brown, New Edition (okay THAT was a long time ago), Rob Base , I think there are a few more, but I can't remember. I went to more concerts in high school than I ever did as an adult. Trina...I'm JEALOUS. Aerosmith and Kid Rock??? I would love to see both of them! Heaven- Also jealous...love Def Leppard and Melissa Etheridge.
Well, some of you know, so I'll add... Nichole Nordeman Amy Grant Michael W. Smith Steven Curtis Chapman Steve Taylor/Sheila Walsh David Meece Jeremy Camp 10 Shekel Shirt David Crowder Band (x2) Shane and Shane Watermark Bebo Norman Deanna, you liked Carmen? He gets on my last nerve--LOL. One of our good friends drives band tour busses for a living. He got DH into the "inner circle" and backstage at U2 in Houston last year. Right now he's with Sheryl Crow and John Mayer. How cool is that? He has neat stories and lots of autographed pics around the house.
Bush and Veruca Salt was my first concert. I've seen a full-day, multi-stage festival called the FEZtival, put on by a radio station in Philly. Some of the bands that played were Everclear, Green Day, Fuel, and Mighty, Mighty Bosstones. Ludacris, Chingy, DTP, and David Banner (who is GIGANTIC, he has "Mississippi" spelled out straight across his back, possibly one of the biggest guys I've ever seen.) in Austin, Kevin Fowler at Fort Hood, and Dave Matthews Band in NJ('97), Philly('00), and Dallas('06). (I've been a DMB fan for 10 years now, and recently got their firedancer logo tattooed on my hip.) Interesting post!!
Oh Wow, lets see if I can remeber them all. Here are some that I remember. Hall and Oats Black Sabbath Night Ranger Def Leopard Rush Cheap Trick Hal Ketchum Alabama Mavericks I know there are more. I just can't remember them all.

It was a huge, outdoor concert that lasted all day/evening. Tons of big country stars flew/drove in to make appearances, so there was someone playing at all times. Amazing! I haven't been to any concerts in more than 15 years, I'm sure!

ABBA, Styx, and Little River Band, all when I was in college. I've lost track of how many times I've seen Jump5 with my daughter. There have been a few other teen groups, but it's hard to remember their names.
Pam - I LOVE Carmen. I have two CD's and I play them in the car and sing all the time!!!
A lot of the groups that you all mentioned were favourites of my older kids who were in high school in the eighties and early nineties. We had a terrible tragedy happen here in Rhode Island in 2003. A group called "Great White" was performing at this tiny, over-crowded club in West Warwick. They lit pyrotechnics that ignited foam soundproofing that was made out of the wrong material (not fireproof). One hundred people died within minutes and scores of others were severely burned. I had never heard of this group until this happened, tho DD says that she remembers them. I guess they were an eighties group? Has anyone else ever heard of them? Were they good? Their tour manager got four years in prison for lighting the pyrotechnics. The club owners just copped a plea deal to keep from having a trial. The whole thing was very tragic.
Stacy, I saw a few on your list that I have seen too....:-) Hol, yes *I* thought Great White was good - they were an 80's band....
The Monkees Chicago REO Speedwagon Doobie Brothers Chuck Mangione Willie Nelson Jerry Jeff Walker Cooter Graw James Lee Stanley Three Dog Night The Temptations Fifth Dimension Frank Sinatra, Jr. Eclectic, eh? LOL
Oh, yeah, and I forgot Air Supply
Hol, i had never heard of Great White before. But i did hear about that tragedy at the night club. That was horrible! Deanna, so....who was your favorite? Mine was Joey! LOL My brothers and sisters told me that one day i would be so embarassed that i listened to NKOTB. At the time i refused to believe that. Now i know they were right ! LOL
What a fun post!!!! AC/DC Aerosmith (more times that I could count... I'm a Boston girl!!! ) America Anthrax B.B. King Barry Manilow Bay City Rollers (my first concert!!!!) Billy Idol Billy Joel Bon Jovi Brian Setzer Buddy Guy Cinderella Diana Ross Eagles Elton John Extreme Faith No More Foreigner Guess Who Guns n' Roses James Taylor John Mellancamp Journey Kansas Kiss Koko Taylor L.A. Well it is hard to say.. i went to a lot of the lallapaloozas so I say a bunch of people there don't remember them all.. Nirvana 4 months before Cobain died Alice in Chains Willie Nelson Eagles Blind Melon Sublime George Strait Depeche Mode (that was a long long time ago) The Cure There are many many more I just can't seem to think of them right now because they were all at music festivals and places like that.
I can't even remember all of the concerts I've been to. In college and pre-marriage I used to go to all kinds of them. Absolute worst was Peter Frampton about a year after he'd had that wreck. He played an hour and 15 min and seemed annoyed or bored that he had to be there. No encore and hardly even talked to the audience. Absolute best was Alabama. They played to people in the front row as well as to those in the rafters. It was great. Huey Lewis ranked very high. Bruce Springsteen 20 years ago was really good, too. And Phil Collins at the Omni in Atlanta was pretty high on the list, too. I was in the potty when Susudio (sp?) started. Every woman in line vacated the bathroom including me. LOL
Perry Como--took my mother as her birthday present Randy Travis--husband's mother gave him tix for some reason....we don't like him Barry Manilow--YES, on PURPOSE, I LOVE Barry!! John Denver--several times, absolute fave singer/music of all time BB King--hate jazz, dragged to it by hubby Grateful Dead--wanted a second date with hubby so agreed when he asked....first and only time tho! Not a concert person....
Debbie---I LOVED Huey Lewis (okay, still do really) and Phil Collins is one of my favs. There are very few concerts now that I would actually pay to go see but Phil Collins is certainly one of them.
hmmmmm...hard to remember them now, but here goes... Smashing Pumpkins Counting Crows Green Day Metallica Guns N Roses Faith No More Blind Melon Cheap Trick and Robert Plant Dave Matthews...CRYSTAL:- when I was in college- before they hit it "big" my college roommate dated Stefan the bass player -so him and Dave slept in my dorm room all the time! Tori Amos SO many punk bands I cannot even rmemeber all the names Arlo Guthrie Murphys Law L7 James Taylor Soundgarden Pearl Jam Janes Addiction 3 Lollapaloozas... GWAR Lenny Kravitz U2 Public Enemy I am sure that I am forgettting some but it has been a few years since I have actually been to a concert! LOL
Wendy, I saw Peter Frampton in the 70's and it was a good show. :-)
Karen, have you seen Peter Frampton lately? I thought he was so HOT when I was in higschool, with that beautiful hair of his. I've seen him on tv lately, and can't believe it's him!! That hair sure did make a difference.
He had the car wreck in 1978, I think. I saw him in concert fall 81 or spring 82. He just stunk. But from what I read over the years, he lost his spirit after that wreck. I really did not enjoy the concert and was annoyed at the time. But I felt bad for him, too.
