What time do your dk's go to bed???
I am just wondering. My dd 5 goes to bed between 8-8:30. As close to 8 as we can get because s he is to tired. Ds 8, goes to bed around 8:30. I have cut out all tv before school and this has been great. But there are two nights a week that we have extracuricullar activities. On these nights ds with school work does not have a lot of time for free play so to speak. I think these activities are important for him otherwise he would just sit around and do more sedentary activites. I was just thinking of letting him stay up until 9 on these nights. I just wondered what time most dk's his age really go to bed.
My DD is 71/2 and she goes to bed at 8pm and reads books until 830-845.She is usually sleeping by 9pm.We let her stay up until 930-10 on a week-end.She's allowed to play video 2 nights a week.I find reading books before bed helps wind her down especially after any over stimulating activity.I'd give it a try and see how he does.If he's hard to wake up in the morning then you know to cut back.
dd 9 in bed at 8pm, reads til 9p ds 13 in bed at 9p, reads til 9:30 dd 15, in bed by 9p, reads til 10p
My older two (9 and 7yo) both go to bed at 8:30. They are in bed at 8 but read for the last half-hour. My youngest is 5yo and needs every minute of sleep that she can get so she's in bed and falling asleep at 8pm. My 7yo just doesn't need as much sleep as either of the girls and if I could manage it, he'd be allowed to stay up later than his older sister but I can just imagine the fit she would throw! If you think your ds can handle being up that extra time, I would let him stay up. I don't know what time he has to get up in the morning but any time around 7am (give or take half an hour) would still allow him to get 10 hours of sleep each night. Of course, bedtimes aren't set in stone and if you notice that he's just too tired the next day, you can always move it up to 8:30 again.
My kids are 4, and go to bed at 8pm.
On school nights my 6yo goes to bed at 8:30pm and my 10yo goes to bed at 9pm.
My kids are 7 and 5 and go to bed between 8-8:30
My kids are 10 and 7 and lay down around 9:00 and have to be asleep by 9:30. They get up at either 7:05 or 7:20 depending on whether I work or not...
My 11-year-old goes to bed at 10:30 and gets up at 7:30.
We try to have them in the bed at 8pm, they are 3, 5, and 8. But with football season and the oldest one practicing until 7:30 it has been more like 8:30 or 9. Some nights we make them go to bed at 7 if we feel they need to catch up on lost sleep. They get up at 7 am.
7 and 4 year olds, here. In bed by 8pm on school nights. Up at 7am. Sometimes we let out dd stay up in her bedroom to read a book until 8:30. Then it's lights out. She always feels special when she gets to stay up and read in bed like mommy and daddy do. So, it works well as a special reward for her. But, she does have to be in her room and all ready for bed by 8pm.
My girls go to bed at 9 and 9:30 they are 9 and 11. But the younger one seems to stay up a lot later most of the time without us knowing it. She is sneaky. I have found that bedtimes totally depend on the kid. My oldest needs all the sleep she can get and my youngest is a night owl so it can be difficult but you just have to do what you think is best for your son.
dd 5 ds 5 and dd 8 are in bed by 9-9:30 and fall asleep around 10-10:30 oldest dd who is 11 is pretty much left up to her. She knows what time to go to bed to where she isn't tired in the morning. and I have never had any problems with her in the mornings. We never had a time to go to bed when I was younger. It was left up to us my Mom never said anything until we gave her a rough time in the mornings.
ds 2: 7:30 ds 6: 7:45 ds 10: 8:45 dd 13: 9:30 They all get up BY 6:15 in the AM and the older three do after school sports, so they are pooped out, they dont' watch TV so they are all reading for at least 30 minutes before bed/after homework. My two oldest would read all night long if we didn't physically turn their light off, and dd still sneads her lightwedge and reads more most nights, but we make sure she's dont by 9:30 at the latest.
Mine both go for quiet time around 8 or 8:30pm and bedtime is about an hour after that. They're 8 and 4.
Our kids are 10, 9 and 5. When it is a non-sports night, they are in bed between 8-8:30. On football practice nights, we don't get home until close to 8:30 and then we eat dinner, so bedtime is usually around 9:30.
Ds, 7, goes to bed between 8:30 and 9. He's almost always asleep by 9. He reads to me before lights out.
I try and have both 2 and almost 5 in bed by 8:00. Sometimes it gets pushed to 8:30 if we've gotten off schedule. Ame
12 y/o DS: Bed at 8:30, reads until 9, up at 6:15 9 y/o DS: Bed at 8, reads until 8:30, up at 6:30 This is typical, but on Wednesdays (church night) and occasional Thursdays (scouts), the times get pushed back a little. They play and work hard all day so they are tired. They protest their "early" bedtimes, but they always fall asleep quickly and easily.
