Mineral Make Up??

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive September 2006: Mineral Make Up??

Ame mentioned this in the post about dark circles under the eyes. I have been wondering about this make up and thinking of trying it.

I go to physical therapy twice a week for my knees. One of the physical therapy assistants is also a massage therapist. She subscribes to this spa magazine and they had a whole article about mineral make up. I guess the advantages are that they are all natural and contain no ingredients that are known to cause irritation in some people, like talc. They also need no preservatives so there's less chance of a reaction. It is supposed to be a "wrinkle filler", foundation and powder in one.

Kristen (the therapist), is a young girl (married, no kids) that is up on all the latest fashion trends. She says she uses it and loves it. She says that she gets hers from QVC. She does have lovely skin, but who doesn't at 32? LOL!

I have terrible skin and have always wondered about the Bare Minerals line that so many women here rave about. When I saw that L'Oreal had a mineral foundation at Target, I picked it up since it's a fraction of the price. I LOVE IT!!! I can't imagine how great some of the higher priced lines must be when this is just a drugstore brand. Great coverage, so light feeling, no irritation with my sensitive skin. I've only been using it for about a month but my skin is clearer and there's less redness across my cheeks and around my nose. I rave about it to anyone who listens.

I love Bare Escentuals makeup. However, I've been using Airbrushed Canvas by Philosophy along with the Bare Minerals blush and bronzers and I *really* like that combination.

If you look up Smokey Mountain Minerals on ebay you'll see a bunch of stuff. They have some neat starter kits. I think mine was like 20 bucks. It lasts forever and does not look like makeup! I have dark circles and lots of hyper-pigmentation. It cover everything. You can mix it yourself to get just the right tome you like.

The only thing I don't like is that it gets all over the sink because it's lose powder, not pressed.
