What to wear to the wedding?
Ladies, I need help. I have been unsucessful in finding a dress to wear to my soon to be sister-in-laws wedding. I really want to match my DH who is the bestman, but not look like I'm in the wedding party. The bridesmaids are wearing candyapple red dresses, and my dh is wearing a black tux with candyapple red bowtie... Any suggestions. When I asked the bride to be she suggested brown??? Well, ok...NOT LOL
Maybe pink? Wait- I know! HOT pink! JK But a soft pink is good.
I really don't see why you can't wear red? Your dress won't look the same as the bridesmaids. Maybe just something with a red accent, or red in a pattern.
Why do you want to match your husband? Most of the photos are going to be of him and the wedding party, right? I would just wear black with a little bit of red in the earrings or something that would be flattering on *you*. I think she suggested brown so that you wouldn't be confused with the wedding party...not sure? Some brides let the bm's pick out their own style but keep the same color.
I would like to match my husband and my little guy. They are both wearing a tux and this will be the first time both of my boys are in one at the same time. I went to Nordstrom last night and they had a beautiful dress, but not in my size...When I talked to the lady there she expressed the fact that I should wear black. The wedding starts at 3:30 and then we are off to eat appetizers until the wedding party gets back from pictures. Then dinner will be served in a cave...Seems to me black is appropriate..LOL
What about black pants and a really pretty red top/blouse and some strappy heals with an open toe? When I have time I will look online and see if I can find a picture of what I am thinking of. Does it have to be a dress/skirt? If so then what about a simple black dress with white pearls? And maybe a red scarf??? Just a few quick thoughts...I'm off to take D to school and to go swimming at the gym. What fun....NOT! LOL Also I was at Ann Taylor Loft on Monday and they had about 3 different Black Dresses on Clearance. They would work well for this.?.?.?
Oh, how cute, Stori! I didn't know your little one was in the wedding too! Makes sense now... Dinner in a cave? Whoah. Black does make sense especially if the colors are candy apple red and black. I like Andi's idea too.
I like Andi's idea, but if you would prefer a dress , can you just do a apple sash around the wait of the dress and or maybe shoes to make your guy's ties. And when you say cave? You mean a real cave? Sorry for sounding so stupid, I've just never heard of anyone outside of a school trip eating in a cave.
Did she say cave? LOL I don't think brown is a bad idea. If you think brown would look good on you. I have seen some really pretty brown dresses. Black always works too. I know i'm not much help here. have fun shopping though!!
Thanks for the input everyone. I have tried on expensive, really expensive & cheap dresses without success. LOL I still have a few weeks, and I'm trying to loose a few more pounds so hopefully I will find the right outfit. At this point I feel like wearing a pair of blue jeans and a cute shirt..LOL Oh and from what I understand they are getting married at a wineary in Napa, and the dinner is served in a real cave. My 13 year-old daughter thinks we should go gothic..and buy black everything with chains hanging from our lips..LOL
Brown is actually a really hot color right now - I wore a brown print party dress to a wedding last weekend, and there were several other ladies wearing brown. Maybe brown is the 'new black'. LOL
I would try to find a black dress and a light wrap which is a mixture of reds and black. If you can't find the right colored wrap, try drop earrings with rubies (fake of course, if you don't own them already!). A "cave" in Napa could be the huge wine cellar at a winery, which will feel like a cave.
