Cruise Question
How are the rooms without a view? For a free cruise (not including taxes) 4 day 3 night Miami to Nassau is it worth it to upgrade to ocean view for $250. We were thinking a cheap winter getaway for the 2 of us long weekend. Nothing super expensive. Just airfare and taxes. What do you ladies think? Forgo the upgrade and spend the money on something else? I was thinking we would only be in the room to sleep and !!!!! No view needed for that right! HA HA Honest opinions.
We just had an inside room on our cruise 2 weeks ago. To us its no big deal. When we booked the cruise, the Travel Agent said for us to save our money keep the inside room. But, we are only a one income family. His exact words were to save the money and use it for shore excursions inside LOL... My sister in law and brother in Law were on the cruise with us as well. They had an oceanview balcony room, which was nice.
The ocean view is a small porthole. A balcony is a different story. I would spend the $ to upgrade to a balcony but not to have a window. For that short of a cruise, I would save your money and use it as spending money.
Thanks ladies that is what I thought too. With the wedding coming up we want to save on whatever we can but we only have so long to use the cruise so why not use it for a short winter get away. Airfare to Miami is cheap and taxes for the cruise will be under $200 total without the upgrade added on. Thanks ladies you made my smart thought shine brighter when I needed them too. So we are going on our first cruise February 9th-12 from Miami to Nassau and back to Miami.
I wouldn't upgrade either. I am a bit clausterphobic and have done just fine in the cabin without a window. Maybe it helps that they have curtains on the wall to make it look like there is a window there??
I enjoyed having an oceanview room, although we would have had an inner stateroom if it weren't for a free upgrade through Hotwire.com.
Just want to mention, we have never had an inside stateroom, and our oceanview staterooms have all had full sized windows with curtains, not just porthole windows. If you really don't mind not having a window or porthole, then by all means put the money towards excursions, another getaway, etc.
OOOPS! Sorry, it has been a while since we had an ocean view. I thought it had a porthole. I know the window (in my opinion) was not worth the extra $ but a balcony definitely is. We now only book balconies (for longer cruises it is great to be able to relax on the balcony).
