Question about anti-depressants/anxiety meds
Has anyone taken these during pregnancy? We are planning on TTC beginning after the holidays. I am currently taking an anti-depressant/anxiety medication. Effexor XR. I'm wondering if the doctor will switch me to a different one before TTC. I don't go in for my annual checkup until the middle of October. Just curious as to what others have experienced with this.
Effexor is not approved for use during pregnancy. I had a horrible experience coming off of it this year, you can have horrible withdrawls with Effexor XR. Good luck with the meds, and TTC.
As long as they transition you to the new medication you should be fine.. It is quiting all together that generally causes the issues.. And I would look for a meds change.. How much are you taking of the Effexor XR?? Unlike Crys, DH has had the best results with Effexor XR (that with a couple of others but he has other issues).
I had a few friends who took Zoloft during pregnancy and it's what my Dr. told me is the most common for that time period. I took it while nursing DS for a few months with no issues. I would call your Dr.--they hear this so often and have so much experience with it, that they'll know what they prefer to prescribe. Good luck.
Thanks for the responses. I'm taking a pretty low dosage right now. 75mg/day. I'm a little nervous about switching or anything because this has been working so well.
I was on Paxil with one pregnancy and Zoloft with another and really had no problems. I switched from Effexor to the Zoloft and the transition was a piece of cake. Good luck!
Tink, that is excellent to know. I hope that the transition is as easy for me. Thank you for posting.
