I don't know how to post attachments, so I will do my best to just TELL you about this, based on a recent email that I received.

During this month, Mars has been getting closer and closer to Earth. It appears brighter each night. On the evening of August 26th, Mars will start to rise in the sky at about 10:00PM. By 3:00AM, it will apeear to be as large and as bright as the moon. The article said that the optimim time to view it in the Northern Hemisphere is at 12:30AM on August 27th.

Mars will not come this close to Earth again until 2287! If I ever see it again, I'm sure that I will be viewing from the "top side". LOL!!

If I can get Shawn to post the whole article, I will. Otherwise, maybe you can find something about it on line. I'm surprised that more hasn't been said about it.

I'm sorry to say that this is just an urban legend. The close sighting of Mars was back in August 2003. The story can be found here.

I came home from picking up the boys, and was going to post and say that if someone much more tech savy than I wanted to post the email, I'd send it to a member of MV. However, now that I read the other posts, it makes sense. I wondered why I haven't heard anything about this, with the date coming upon us. I admit, the person who sent it to me is VERY gullible, but I fell for it, too.

Thanks for setting me staright. My kids will be dissappointed, however.

Beat me to it. I got this email a few weeks ago and fell for it too. Sent it to a few people and a few of them wrote back with the link to Snopes....i should have know better.

My kids were bummed too.
