Calling All PLANTAR Wart Sufferers....Need Help ASAP!

My five year old DD has one that has unfortunately gotten larger. It's below her smaller toes, on one of those soft 'bumps' of the sole of the foot. My big concern is that we leave for a week at Disney on Wednesday, and I don't know how she's going to be with all that walking and the heat and foot swelling...

We'll have a stroller, but she's almost six and won't want it too much and truthfully I had hoped to use it as infrequently as possible. If she's in pain then of course we will use it.

I don't know what it feels like, tho, having never had one. Sometimes she complains and sometimes she doesn't. She mostly doesn't which is why I forgot about it until two days before our trip! I know I can buy those donut foam things that cushion the area, but I have not had luck getting them to STAY on her foot, and with the heat and mega walking I really have no hope for it! I want to superglue it to her!! ANY ideas for that??

Lastly, how do you think she'll do? Am I worrying for nothing? Do they not hurt that much? Does the pain get worse with high intensity walking?

DS had one last year. Our ped. said to try putting duct tape and/or wart remover on it for a few weeks. If it didn't come out on it's own he told us to see a podiatrist. I had just called and made an appt. when DS told me it fell out. LOL! It did get painful for him, which is why I took him to the doctor. I would think the size and location would be factors as to whether it's painful or not.

FWIW, we took our kids to WDW when they were 5 & 7. They wanted to ride in the Disney strollers often. Honestly, I felt more comfortable that way as opposed to keeping track of them when walking through the crowds.

My DS had a planters wart too. I would say if its is not hurting now then don't treat it until you get back from your trip. Sometimes when you use wart remover it can irritate it more. We tried all kinds of things on DS and not much worked, then the ped. told us to use a product called Duofilm, it worked great. Good luck Have fun on your trip.

Have the dr shave it before you go. He shaved kayla's and it stayed down for a while and didn't hurt. It growing again so it doesn't last forever.

I agree, I would take stuff to treat it with, but I would leave it alone. They are kind of like a pimple, sometimes they are just there, but sometimes they are inflamed and have a lot of pressure behind them.

As for a stroller, last I was in disney my kids were 5,3,1 and we ended renting a double. It is nice because you don't have to carry it around and you can transfer it from park to park (just checking in and out at the rental place, you get a new stroller).

i have personally had a plantar wart twice in my lifetime(several years in between). the first was on the bottom of my heel, and the second was on the side of my foot just below the ankle. they were not painful, but itched from time to time, and would get sore if i scratched too much (scratching could also cause one to develop under/near the fingernail).

with the first one i sterilized a pin/needle every few days and would pick the black "seeds" out of it, then apply antibiotic ointment and cover with a bandaid. repeated this until it completely went away (about 2 weeks).

the 2nd one i had burnt/frozen off by a dermatologist.... went in, he sprayed it, swelled/blistered after a day or two, busted, & covered it until healed.

many times otc meds/treatments don't work well for plantar warts.
