Band uniforms (or my kids are VERY lucky)
I just read this article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel about band uniforms. (Mequon is between here and Milwaukee and is an affluent community. Kewaskum is northwest of Milwaukee and a more rural community.) Some bands struggle with uniforms Up here in Sheboygan:
- Band uniforms were brand new in fall 2003
- Are cleaned every year (we pay $11 per kid,, for that)
They are sharp! I can't believe that in Mequon, home of the HUGE snooty houses you see from the freeway, that their high school band marches in tattered uniforms! I guess we moved to the right city 13 years ago! I'm pretty sure that Sarah's and Emily's uniforms are 100% wool, too, since they have to be dry-cleaned and they are picky how the uniforms are hung up. (Some of the kids don't realize that the curve in the hanger, is there for a reason! LOL!) Oh, also, after a parade, or homecoming marching show, the plumes -for the hats- all go back into their little cardboard boxes, too!) Aren't they sharp looking? Sarah's Band Pic (from Memorial Day) I think North High School has gotten new uniforms, in the last few years, too.
Definitely sharp looking!
Love it! She looks great!
She looks awesome!
Those do look good and you are lucky to have band too. It's like a lost art here where I am now.
Ilovetom, was band a victim of budget cuts? Sheboygan seems to be very committed to the music programs! It's a good thing!
