Breaking news...again
united flight from london to dc diverted to Logan (boston) due to "on flight emergency" or a confrontation with either 1 or 3 people. Some reports are saying the pilot requested a fighter to escort them. plane has landed. firefighters are at the plane now. lots of conflicting stories right now.
I heard that 3 passengers had a conflict with the flight crew and that everyone has been taken off the plane and all carry on luggage is being check. It was just on the radio here.
passenger had vaseline, screwdriver, and possibly a note referencing Al Quaeda. There was definitely printed material in arabic. Pilot declared an emergency, and the fighter jets escorted them to Boston. Now all baggage has been laid out on the tarmac and it is all going to be gone through!
This is so scary! They could have blown that plane up over D.C., my brother and his family are there right now. I'm so glad they had the brains to land that plane.

BOSTON -- A United Airlines flight from London to Washington, D.C., was diverted to Boston on Wednesday morning when at least one passenger on board became unruly, according to federal authorities. Federal security officials said Flight 923 out of Heathrow Airport, with 194 on board, landed safely at Boston's Logan International Airport about 10:20 a.m. after the captain declared an in-flight emergency following some kind of altercation. An FBI spokeswoman in Boston said the incident involved one "disruptive," 60-year-old female passenger who was reportedly claustrophobic. She was taken in to custody and federal security director George Naccara said authorities would be looking into her background and whether she has been on any recent, long-duration flights. He said there were reports she was carrying suspicious items or prohibited materials, but he could not confirm what they were. Logan Airport spokesman Phil Orlandella said the woman had Vaseline, a screw driver, matches and a note referencing al-Qaida, but Naccara, of the Transportation Security Administration, said that was not the case. There were no injuries reported in connection with the incident. He said the disturbance was not terror-related. Two fighter jets escorted the aircraft to Logan, an official said. The plane landed at Logan's Terminal E and passengers were asked to deplane so their bags could be rescanned and the aircraft re-checked by security. All of the luggage was laid out on the tarmac and security personnel inspected them using canine teams. The airplane had a crew of 12.
