Packing for trips?
Who does the packing in your house? We are getting ready to leave for MIS in the morning. I have packed nothing. I have to pack for me and the 2 kids and when Rich is done packing for himself go back and add some stuff for him too. How does it work in your house?
I pack my stuff, DH packs his own..........though he's always asking me what he should pack...........LOL I used to pack the kids' stuff until they reached age 10 or so - then they would complain because I didn't pack the clothes they wanted. At that point I made a list of what they should pack (clothes, toiletries, shoes, etc.) and let them pack their own stuff. In the beginning I would ask them to double check to be sure they had what they needed, but after a while, I figured it was up to them. However, when Jen was competing in dance and we went to Nationals in Dallas, I packed everything because we couldn't risk not having every single thing she needed.
I now pack for Blake (6yo) and I. However, Blake helps me by bringing me his things as I list them off. My older kids get a list from me, of suggested items they should/could pack. They take their list upstairs and pack for themself. Dh usually packs for himself. I do all the laundry prior to packing and if I know we will be packing certain items that I have just washed-I dont put them away. I stack them by the suitcase or on the dresser.
I pack for myself and my partner packs for himself. I'll ask him if he has "this" or "that" and he does the same for me. We compare so that we don't double up on things or forget something when we're going camping together. If it's for a wedding or something we usually don't. He will remind me to bring my travel coffee mug. I don't pack for my little ones anymore, but I will give them a list of what they need (encourages reading practice) and check when they say they're done to make sure.
Ahhh great question..We are leaving Saturday morning, and started packing last night. I of course pack for all 3 kids..My husband packs for himself.
I pack clothes for DH and me. Kids are teens, so they do all their own packing. DH has to pack his own toiletry stuff, though. He is much more cognizant of contact lens' needs, than I am.
I pack for myself and the kids, though they help. My husband either packs for himself, if I have the suitcase out and ready to pack, or he gets his things together and puts them in a stack on the dresser so I can place them in the suitcase when I am ready. I pack all toiletries for everyone, and dh adds anything else he wants.
I pack for everyone. Our toiletry pack is always packed & ready to go. I plan way in advance for vacation and keep a spreadsheet of everything packed. Everyone reads their list to confirm that we have not forgotten anything. "My name is Yvonne, I am an over-planner". LOL
I pack for me and the kids. Dh packs for himself. I figure, i have to worry about 3 people. He should be able to handle packing for himself!
I pack for myself and my younger two. My oldest is starting to pack for herself but I still go over the things she packs to make sure I agree with all of it. I mostly pack for my dh, just getting his approval for what I've packed. I'd rather be responsible for mis-packing his things than be upset because he didn't pack things I would have wanted him to have. Control freak much?
I pack for all of us, then I listen to my DH complain because I forgot to pack "whatever" for him.
I pack for Natalie and I, and DH packs for himself. Yvonne - ROFL! My DH is OCD so we don't need a spreadsheet for that, LOL.
Yvonne, do you give lessons? LOL The most organized I've ever been when planning a trip was to write a list, and I end up with several sheets of scribbled over paper.
My dh and I are going away this weekend and leaving our ds here with his grandma. I have lists of everything, but I haven't packed a thing yet. I have a list of phone numbers, daily chores (which I am training my son to do, such as feeding the dog and cat), a list of foods that I have available in the house for them to eat, and my packing list. I simply started a word document and saved the icon to my desktop, so when I need to add something, I can just click and type. When I print the lists out and start packing, I can check off everything I have packed, and I will print an extra one so that when I pack to come home, I won't forget anything.
I pack for everyone, even if I am not going on the trip. Just easier that way!
