...And can I PLEASE have the recipe again? :) I can't find it anywhere, and it's time for Field Hockey season's kickoff dinner. I had SO many requests for this dessert after making it last year.....the only recipes I can find on google that are even close call for butter/margarine and/or powdered sugar, and the recipe I used didn't have either one of those. Thanks, ladies :)

This site: http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,196,148163-227198,00.html

had this one (which does use powdered sugar, but sounds good):

OREO CREAM CHEESE CAKE

1 pkg. Oreo cookies
2 sticks butter
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 c. powdered (confectioners') sugar
1 lg. pkg. chocolate pudding
1 (8 oz.) pkg. Cool Whip

This cake is made in layers.
Crush half of the package of Oreo cookies and press into 9x13 inch dish. Melt 2 sticks of butter and dribble over top. Refrigerate until firm, 15 minutes.

LAYER 2:
Mix cream cheese and 1 cup of powdered sugar. Place on cookie layer.

LAYER 3:
Mix chocolate pudding according to directions and spread on top of cream cheese and sugar layer.

LAYER 4:
Spread Cool Whip on top and sprinkle with remaining crushed Oreo cookies. Chill. Serves 8 to 10.

And here are a lot more using oreo cookies and cream cheese:

The Dirt Cake from that site also looks interesting and easy:

DIRT CAKE

20 oz. Oreo cookies, crushed
2 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
2 c. confectioners sugar
2 lg. chocolate instant pudding
4 c. milk
16 oz. Cool Whip

Mix cream cheese, Cool Whip, and sugar. In another bowl mix pudding and milk. Combine cheese and pudding mixtures. Layer pudding mixture and crushed Oreos (start and end with Oreos) in a flower pot. Chill 3-4 hours. Insert flower in center of Dirt Cake for presentation before serving. (Wrap stem in aluminum wrap.) Use a trowel to serve.

That was me! Ummm... haven't made it in a while. I think it was something like this, though:

3-4 large boxes of chocolate pudding

bag of oreos, crushed in medium chunks

large container of cool whip

1-2 blocks of softened cream cheese, depending on taste

This makes A LOT! I usually start with 1.5 boxes of cream cheese and then add more if I want

Just make up the pudding as directed, and then mix everything else in.

Hope this helps a little!!!

Do you just spoon it out into dessert cups? Or is it a pie?

By Cybermommyx4 on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 - 01:58 pm:

I served it in clear plastic dessert cups, with clear plastic spoons, and an oreo sticking out of the top of each one - it looked very elegant, and , if you spoon it out ahead of time, you know how many servings you will have ;) Thanks, Adena, for posting the recipe again :) I can't imagine using the one with butter (it's already so rich without adding butter) or sugar (it's PLENTY sweet, too) If anyone tries any of the other recipes, let me know how it goes. I just wanted to use the same one as last year since it was such a hit :)

Wendy, I feel the same way! I couldn't imagine adding anything to it!

And I usually just have it in a large bowl, and let people dish it out themselves. It is thick, so you can place it on a plate or in a cup or bowl. However you choose to do it.

Whenever I use the large serving bowl, I save enough whole oreos, usually I buy another pack, and place them around the entire edge of the bowl. Then I crush some of the cookies very fine, and sprinkle it on top, and it looks very nice.
