DH's blog and pictures from Afghanistan
If any of you are interested in seeing Scott's blog/pictures that he updates from Afghanistan, please e m a i l me at: (I'm going to spell it horrifically wrong but I get a lot of s p a m.) HeidiHenkel a t hawtmale dawt cahm (I made it sound like I'm from Boston...LOL!) He just met Rumsfeld and is working on a lot of school projects. Right now, he is helping the locals prepare for the cold winter. They actually take a "break" from school in the winter since it's so harsh. Which, I find funny since Scott measured the temp inside his HumVee the other day at 145 degrees!!!!! Crazy... I'm also doing a shoe drive for the local kids and I can e m a i l you his mailing address if you want to participate. (Gently used.) We had a bunch of sandals sent for the summer, but they need winter shoes too. (You'll see from the pics that a lot of kids are running around outside in 100 degree heat without shoes on.) And, any lined notebook paper and pens for the schools (things are simple there and crayons melt) would be great too. Scott loves giving the kids supplies rather than candy!!
Heidi, I e-mailed you about the shoes.
I've just emailed you, too.
Me, too! Thanks, Heidi.
Thanks, you guys! I just emailed y'all back. Oh, and feel free to post a comment to his blog. He would love to hear from you guys too. (He knows how much I've relied on y'all for support and how much fun I have on this site.)
i just emailed you about the blog
I just had a chance to look briefly at his blog and photos. He writes wonderfully and how very interesting! I have to get Lara ready for bed, but I am eager to go back and read more! Thanks so much, Heidi.
I just e-mailed about the blog. I'm looking forward to reading it.
Kate, I will email you back today. Nicki, I'm glad you like it! He is a very good writer. He also has a way with words that makes me crack up and cry at the same time. He's the only one who can do that.
Trina and Brandy, I got your emails too. I'll email y'all when I get up from my nap today!
add me to the list please ty brewer wt yahpoo dawt cam
Ok, everyone. I should have responded to all of you...let me know if you haven't heard from me yet! Hope you enjoy his blog! I just love it...but, I am biased. If anyone else wants to see it, shoot me an e ma i l and I'll get back to you asap.
I love the photos! My favorite so far is the children with their kites. It's so good to read about all the good that is going on over there! Your husband is making a big difference in this community. And he sure misses you and Connor. I smiled when I read his very first entry. He wasn't yet sure what his assignment would be, but he said something to the effect that he'd blow bubbles and ride a tricycle, if that's what he'd have to do to get back to you. Bless his heart. As it turns out he's doing so much good, and I'm glad the military is using his talents. But I can only imagine how eager he is to finish and come home. Thank you for sharing his blog with us, Heidi. My husband has been reading, too!
Heidi, You have my e-mail. Will you send me the info and I will mail out some of Tay's gently used shoes and some school supplies.
Sure! And, Nicki, I'm so glad you like the blog. It's interesting to hear straight from the source and not through our negative news stations. It's also nice to just hear what he's doing.
Hol and Andi, I just emailed you.
Heidi! That is SO COOL! What great pictures, (and what a hotty Scott is!) Thank you for sending it. It is really interesting and very enlightening to see the Afghan people, especially the children and realize that they ARE just people, like us. Soemtimes we get so caught up in frustration over what is happening "over there" that we tend to forget that everyone is a child of God. My goodness though..what a lot of gear they have to wear! The Afghan soldiers look very proud. It must be quite interesting for Scott and his guys to interact with these soldiers everyday. And it must be very rewarding to know that they are making a positive difference in the quality of life for Afghan citizens. It is also a much prettier country than I ever imagined. God bless Scott. Please tell him that I hold him and ALL of our soldiers in my prayers everyday. I also pray for a solution so that they can all come home soon.
