Just me being a middle aged dork
My dh and I do mean darling, dorable, delightful husband got me a lap top for my birthday (a month early, but that's okay). So I don't remember my Momsview password to put it on my laptop. So I edit it and now I have to make it stick. So I'm putting on a message. There was probably some more computer savvy way to do all of this, but it worked.
And if any of the moderators want to delete this worthless message that just ties up space b/c I'm not too computer savvy, well you just go ahead cuz it won't hurt my feelings none.
How sweet of him! I bet you are thrilled! I've always wanted a laptop... I'm the same way with passwords, if I don't type them in, I can't remember them! And I'm only 27! Ugh!
I have very few passwords, and I use them over and over. I have one that I use for every newspaper site where I'm registered so I can read the paper. The only time I change passwords is when I use my credit card, and then I do write them down. I have a 3x5 card in with my program disks for just that purpose. I also keep the emails with my registration name & password in my emails, in a folder marked passwords (except for the sites where I use my credit card) for sites where they don't allow me to use my own password, or where my usual username is already taken and I have to have another one. At work, we have to change our passwords every six months, and I just keep using my old addresses - thank heaven I can still remember where I used to live. Last time around they got fancier - instead of just a word I have to have at least one symbol or number, and at least one uppercase and one lower case letter, and it has to be at least 8 characters. PIB.
We use various addresses from our past. Often I use DH's addresses and he uses mine, it's easy to remember. If one doesn't work, one of the others will.
I use an old license plate that we used to have! How cool that you have a laptop! We took ours on vacation with us, in June! We didn't really spend that much time on the computer, though. We were busy doing other stuff.
I go on vacation to get dh away from the computer. I will on purpose accidentally forget the laptop when we go on vacation.
Enjoy your laptop! I love mine. Ours goes with us on all trips - we're both self-employed and it's a necessity when we aren't home. So, it's always there. I try to use some of the same passwords on my stuff so I can remember.
The password was one that Momsview had given me, I think. It was a bunch of letters and numbers. Dh had saved it so the computer just put it in for me every time. So when I went to use the laptop, I didn't know what it was. I had saved it in an e-mail but I believe dh had deleted the e-mail or archived it or something. He's been doing a bunch of that lately. Then it took me awhile to figure out how to change it. After I figured it out, that was the big duh! BTW, I'm using my laptop. Woohoo!!
