The heat was absolutely unbearable today! It hit 100 with a heat index of 110. It was also VERY humid and hazy. They said on TV that the ozone was very high, so they advised people with breathing problems to stay indoors.

DH took a vacation day today. We had errands to do in the morning, and then we WERE going to go to the beach. However, as the sun got higher in the sky, we decided that it could actually be dangerous to be in the sun for too long. We had some lunch out, and then decided to go to a movie. Shawn wanted to see "Miami Vice". Mike and I wanted to see "Monster House". DH couldn't find anything he wanted to see, so he got stuck seeing "Monster House" with us. We got out of the movie about 3:30, and it hadn't even started to cool down. We just came home, had sandwiches for supper, and watched TV in the AC.

Tomorrow is supposed to be just as bad, as well as Friday. Then, I guess the weekend is supposed to be more "normal" for RI in August.

I don't know how you Southern Mom's do it. Extreme heat literally makes me feel sick. I can't wait until Fall.

The heat wave should have broken by now- at least it has here in Michigan. We are sittin' pretty at 78 degrees now. It is supposed to heat up a bit this weekend, but it won't stay.

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I don't get along well with heat, either. I felt like a prisoner in my living room- the one room that I could keep cool with my window air conditioner. I went out to the pool a couple of times, but with all the kids that were at our house and in the pool, it got dirty.

Today is the first time in 2 days I have had time to sit at the computer. I had it off all day yesterday because of the threat of severe weather, and I had many other things to do. And today, I feel as though a weight has been lifted, but the stress of the past 3 days has ne exhausted.

Hang in there, only 1 more month till fall.

We had a major thunderstorm tonight around dinner time, and it pushed a lot of the heat and humidity out. The weather guy on TV tonight said that we will be pleasantly surprised when we wake up tomorrow morning. Thank goodness!

We actually turned the AC's off tonight to give them a well deserved rest, and opened the windows to let fresh air in the house. You could almost see the plants outside in the rain going "AAAhhh".

CJ - God bless you, honey. I would melt into one big puddle of goo if I had to live in that heat all the time. For us here, it is not the norm.

Its been very hot here in Va Beach as well. I dont mind too much. We have Central ac, and a big above ground pool out in the backyard. My van has good ac as well. so basically we pretty cool most of the time LOL...

Well, it's 3:53PM here right now, and the only "surprise" I had today was that it is still very muggy, tho not as hot. It poured hard rain earlier today, but the air still feels like a sauna. I turned the AC's back on.

I wish it would finally start to cool off or at least rain around here.. Not quite as hot as CJ.. but still it is 100 and only getting hotter supposed to be 103 tomorrow. We haven't had rain around here in what seems like eons.. but probably only since the begining of July. All I can say is whoever invented central a/c is a godsend... I just hope and pray for rain. Keep cool y'all! (or warm from som eof you..?)
