My family hasn't seen much of me this week.

I worked a lot of hours, over the last few days, then yesterday afternoon, had to get the kids registered for school. Today, I had to work ALL day, and Sarah had a band concert at 6:30pm. We only had time for a supper at McDonald's, which is everyone's least favorite place to eat, but we didn't have time for anything else. I hate being on such a tight time schedule!

Sarah is in the city pops band and they give 4 concerts in the park as part of the Twilight Concerts, series. I do enjoy the music, but in a way, it's just ONE more thing to do, in an otherwise BUSY day.

I can see sometimes, why there are mostly retired folks at these concerts. Everyone else is too tired after work and still has to deal with kids and pets and laundry and cooking etc. I doubt that I would go, if Sarah wasn't playing! LOL! We used to live just a few blocks from the park with the bandshell, when we first moved here, so we could hear the music and the kids would beg to go.

Oh, I have to say, though, there was a 2yo girl and 4yo boy, who loved dancing to the music and were able to figure out if the music was fast or slow, and tailor their dancing to the tempo. It was the cutest thing. Sometimes her big brother would twirl her, too! They also had a fun time splashing in the puddles from an earlier rainfall.

I felt bad about not being home with Jasmine, or Gary, too, for that matter. I was working 1st shift hours and he works second shift. Sometimes, that sucks. I'm so glad I have off tomorrow! I'm surprised the dog remembers who I am!

I know what you mean. There are always so many things that we would find enjoyable, and not enough time to do them. There are a lot of special events going on at my church in the evenings...music events, speakers, Bible studies. I'd love to go, but it's just another commitment. I don't work outside the home currently, but I am very busy with my boys. Neither of them drive yet, and they both work, so I am constantly running them around. I try to see my DD and GD at least once or twice a week. Then there's banking, shopping, vet appts, dr appts, Boy Scouts, civic meetings.

Someone once told me that you can find the time if you really WANT to. I guess that's it. Making whatever it is a priority. I keep saying I'm going to do better on that, especially prayer time and exercise. :)

When I was in middle school, I played soprano bugle, in a drum and bugle corps! LOL! Sarah's band tonight, played a song, that I played when I was in Windjammers. It brought back some wonderful memories of marching and practicing and lips so sore, I didn't think I could play another note, and yet I did. Man, that was hard work, but I look back on it fondly, nonetheless. Well, I got the name of the piece and the composer, so when I got home, I found it on iTunes and bought it, even though, each movement was a "song" and it cost me $3. I've been in ear candy heaven listening to this piece over and over and over. It's calming the PMS beast inside of me!

So, I guess I wouldn't have the music, if I hadn't gone to the concert tonight. It's Suite for Military Band No.1 in E-Flat Major, Opus 28. by Gustav Holst. yeah, I'm a classical music nut! I loved playing this song, when I was in Windjammers!

Dawn - certain music evokes strong emotions. I, too, love classical music. We had "Addagio for Strings" by Barber, played at my son Danny's wake. It was also the theme from the movie "Platoon", and it was played at President Franklin Roosevelt's funeral. It is a very haunting but lovely piece.

Lol, Dawn, you and I both have the PMS beast visiting us right now. He gets around, doesn't he?:-)

Goodness, you've had some busy days. I'm glad you have tomorrow off. And glad Sarah enjoys music. She'll probably have some great memories as well when she's older. I played flute in 5th and 6th grade in the band. Some of my favorite memories from my past.

Have a great day tomorrow!

I'm familiar with that one. We have it on a cd. It's one of Gary's favorites. Okay, I finally changed my iTunes music to something else! More marches by the Boston Pops orchestra! LOL!

Let's hear it for menopause!!!!! No more "beasts" for me. LOL!

Sarah plays clarinet and Emily plays flute! I don't forget the music I played as a kid! I can hear band music, and know I played it, even 30 years ago! It's like all that practicing made the music become a part of me!
