I just ordered something
A violin! I've always wanted to learn to play so I called and found a teacher and will start next week! I already play several brass instruments, the piano and sing so reading music won't be a problem. I have a guitar (my dads) but don't know how to play it. Someday. I'm probably crazy for adding something to my already busy schedule/life, but I'm really looking forward to this. My lessons will be on Wednesday nights (haven't decided if I'll do every week or every other yet). I did that to have a nice break in the middle of the week. I just hope the violin I ordered is a nice one. I know I could have gotten one at Target for $100 but from what I've read and on the advise of the teacher I'll be using it really wouldn't be a bargin. I ended up spending $200 from someone that claims to be a music teacher. We'll see. It should be here Friday or Saturday. I'm sure it'll be fine for a beginner. Maybe someday if I get really good I'll try to get a really nice one. Wish me luck!
Good luck. I also want to learn the violin. Keep us up to date on how it's going
good luck. My dd is taking violin in the fall.
Good for you! Good luck and have fun!
People should never stop learning! I think it is great you are going too take lessons. Enjoy!!
My 13 year old and 10 year old play the violin and my 9 year old will start this year as well. They all three enjoy it.
Have fun! I would die without my piano, seeing as how I don't think I will ever actually own a French horn. I have played French horn, cornet and soprano bugle. What brass instruments do you play?
Dawn, I played the cornet, baritone and trombone. One of my brother's played the cornet and the french horn and the other played the clarinet, bass clarinet and tuba (it was a marching band thing! lol). I was probably most comfortable with the baritone, but I liked the trombone best. It's just a fun instrument to play. I miss my piano!!! It's at my mom's house and we really don't have a way to get it to us. I'm always on the lookout for a good used one, though. Almost found one last week! Maybe soon. I'd love for my kids to have one to play around on. Robin has the natural ability for music, but isn't interested in singing or learning an instrument right now. That's okay. Someday.
I bought a piano in March 1986 and met Gary in November. I almost feel like it was planned that way! LOL! Since we have gotten married, I don't where the piano would have fit into the finances!
Oh, How wonderful for you! I played the viola in school, but then orchestra was cut out of the budget, so I never took it again...
It came this morning! I've got the book the teacher told me to get and a shoulder pad and start lessons Wednesday night.
Cool! Have fun!
That's so great Cat! Be sure to keep us posted on your lessons.
