Too hot and muggy
We are under a heat advisory, from 7am Monday, to 7am Wednesday. I was just out with the dog. It's 72, and the dewpoint is about 71. It's uncomfortably muggy out there now, and the sun hasn't come up yet. Bleah. Thank goodness for AC. Jasmine didn't even want to stay out there. I sure feel sorry for dogs who are stuck outside. So, the heat advisory doesn't start until tomorrow. Yet today is going to be miserably hot! I guess it will be a few more days, until the lawn gets mowed!
I know Dawn!! There's about an hour in the morning (between 7:30-8:30) when it's not that bad out. Natalie and I tried to go out then this morning and it was just fine until we realized the mosquitoes were eating us alive! So we ran back in from the mosquitoes! It's such a pain. We could have used repellent, but honestly it just didn't seem worth it to me for less than an hour and at 8am. So in the morning and late evening it's the skeeters, and during the day it's miserably hot. Thank God for the A/C and the sprinkler!
Welcome to my world, Dawn.
We are under a heat advisory until Wed. I can't believe how humid it is here in St. Louis. It is worse then parts of Texas. It usually feels about 10 degrees warmer because of the humidity. Yuck!
We've had this kind of heat all summer. It's so humid that it feels wet as soon as the door is opened. The weather network said we've had between 83-100% humidity most days. Luckily yesterday it finally rained quite a bit, so hopefully today we'll get a bit of a break. The kids haven't been in the pool all week, because we've been inside in the air. I hate having to use the air all the time, but it's pretty much a necessity right now.
It's better out there, now. We had a thunderstorm, around 8am, and it hasn't warmed up into the 90's, like they thought it would. It's been cloudy all day. At 5:30am, though, you could have cut the air, with a knife. It was thick and I couldn't believe how uncomfortable it was, even without the heat of the sun.
That is the exact type of air that Pamt says you could chew. LOL I had to go in to work this afternoon and was driving into a thunderstorm, and saw the most incredible lightning I've ever seen in person. It was amazing, and I was SOOO wishing I'd had my camera with me.....although I don't know that I'd have felt comfortable standing outside to try to get a shot of it! LOL
I just had the weather forecast on for the week, and it is awful! Hot and humid all week, in the nineties. My AC's have been running for a week straight, and I'm not about to turn them off. Usually, we get a few days of cool down, with breezy nights, and I can open the windows and give the AC's (and the electric bill) a rest. Oh well, in a few months, we'll be complaining about heating bills.
NBC news last night had a feature about the heat in Europe this summer. People are dying in France, especially the elderly. They have it tough, because most of Europe has no AC, especially northern Europe. They usually don't need it.
I just heard that the heat index is going to be 105 degrees here tomorrow. :0 I can't wait until October.
It is supposed to be hot and humid here all week too. Today the heat index was 97 degrees, ugh. It was so sticky! We were in Cincinnati this weekend for a family reunion at a park. It was so hot and miserable until the kids started playing with the water. They started filling up cups and pouring it on themselvs, then on each other, then some of the adult men got in on it and got the kids and each other. My ds filled up a cup, came up behind me and GOT ME! LOL But believe me, that water was Welcome! So we all went from miserable and sticky to running around getting each other wet and having a ball and it was all the kids' doing. They definitely had the right idea.
Karen, I think you could have chewed the air this morning! The kids and I are going to attempt a bike ride, in a few minutes. It's still pretty muggy. Should be an experience. I'm pretty sure we won't be riding bikes, even at sunset, over the next few days.
Our weather gal calls it air you can wear! We are not under a heat advisory, but they are forcasting a heat index of 104 tomorrow. I figured out how to beat the heat- get a pool! We set our pool up again (it collapsed a couple of weeks ago) and it's perfect! The water is so refreshing and invigorating. I get out and forget it's hot because I'm so cool! We are going to be spending a lot of time in there the next 2 days!
I think all of you back east must be getting the weather system CA had last week. We had a heat index of 118 and ended up having 26 heat related deaths in just our city. We spent 5 days on the coast to escape it. Melanie, we were in Capitola. I should have talked to you before we left.
Yes Tink, I think you are right. Your heat wave is moving over to us in the midwest. We are suppose to be 102 today with a heat index of 115! Yikes. I am glad it is moving out of California though. My brother is getting married in Huntington this weekend. We are leaving Thurs to spend 4 days there, and 2 at Disneyland.
