House hunting trip not going well
Well, so far it has been a fiasco! Hopefully, the actually house hunting today, will be better. Dh got a bad case of the chiggers when he was at football camp with ds. Of course, he didn't say anything until 2 days later, so yesterday he was miserable during the drive. Then, it ended up taking us an extra hour to get here. We couldn't believe all the construction. We found out after we got here, that highway 44 was buckling because of the unbearable heat. Oh, did I mention heat. It is suppose to be 110 when we go house hunting today. Our windshield got hit by a rock, probably from all the construction, and now it is cracked. Once we get to the hotel and check in, we find it is a dump. How it got the quality award last year is beyond me. I called around and nothing else is available, so we have to stay here until today. We are moving to a new La Quinta this afternoon. Then, to top it all off, ds's reflux acts up(it might have also been from the heat- 107 yesterday) and he throws up a lot during our dinner at Outback. Thank God, our waitress was so wonderful. I tipped her big! So, I guess today can only get better because it can't get much worse. I just feel bad because my parents are here helping us tak care of our dks. If it was only us, it wouldn't be so bad. Oh well, today is a new day. And, at least this lovely hotel has wireless internet, so I can use my laptop.
{{{{{{{{{{DEBBIE}}}}}}}}}}}} Better luck today!!!!
I'm so sorry Debbie! {{{{HUGS}}}}
Oh no Debbie!! Hoping that it the midst of all of this you find the house of your dreams. Today HAS to be better!
I would go online to the MLS (Multiple Listing Service) in your area. You can search for homes in a particular school district, zip code, price range, etc. And you can see (for many homes) pictures or video of the inside. It's a lot easier than driving all over the countryside. http://www.morealestate.net/listings.htm
{{{{{Debbie}}}}} Your dream house is out there! You'll find it! Hang in there.
Debbie, I hope your day is going better! I'm crossing my fingers you will find just the right house.
We found a house we really liked today, so we are much happier. Also, we moved to a much nicer hotel. We have several more to look at tomorrow and then we will make a decision on Sunday. Lisa, we did use realtor.com, and found several houses to look at. We wouldn't buy a house, however, until we have actually seen it.
Oh, I didn't mean you would use the MLS to actually decide on a house. But I thought it would give you a way to narrow down your options so that you wouldn't be driving around all day in the miserable heat. Good luck!
Realtor.com is great to narrow things down. We did that before we came. We have a certain school district that we are looking in. Thankfully, we were done today by 1pm because the heat was unbearable(106) We have 4 subdivisions to look at tomorrow with a few houses in each. The good thing is that it is only suppose to be 92, much better. Plus, the pressure is off since we found one today that we really like.
OMG! 110 degrees?! :0 I don't think I could live there. So sorry you had such a bad day and hope tomorrow is much better for you. (((((hugs))))
Just out of curiostiy- is the house you like anything like the house you bought in St Louis? Or is it completely diff?
Conni, the house we are going to make an offer on is completly different. We looked at several today, and narrowed it down to 2. Tonight before dinner, we took my parents and boys to look at both of them. One of them was the one from yesterday. Everyone liked the one from yesterday best, so we are going to sit down tomorrow with our realtor and make an offer. It is new, so we can get in right away. I absolutely LOVE it. They kept as many trees as they could, so there are lots of tress, also no neighbors directly behind us, so lots of privacy. It has a community pool, which is one block away, so the boys were happy! I reminds me a lot of the house we had in Texas.
Good, glad too hear you decided on one! I hope they accept the offer and all goes well. Community pool- how nice!
Best of luck to you. Hope all goes well on the transaction. You sure went through a lot that first day. ((HUGS)). Moving is always stressful, and you have really had your fill of it in such a short time. Hopefully it will all be over soon, and you can be all settled into your nice new house before school starts.
