Nursing Home Craft Help?
With my work( at the library) I visit 2 nursing homes, more like assisted living, I always do a craft with the ladies. I am at a loss for an Augest craft! I have done ladybug pins this month and they were thrilled, so it can't be a pin again. If anyone has any ideas, I would be grateful, Thank you so much.
I did a google search and found this link with ideas http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/crafts/msg0120372823386.html?6
What is your budget like and how many people are doing the craft? I have a cool craft that you might be interested in, and even though it's not at all difficult, it takes a little explanation as far as materials go and COULD get expensive. That's why I ask about the $ and # of people.
How about knitted dishcloths? They are cheap (use "Sugar and Cream" cotton yarn and #6 needles). They can give them as gifts. Or something like making greeting cards or note cards.
Thanks for the help! Some of the ideas on that site, I have done. They do love to make things for their doors. The budget is not really a problem, I have about 30 between the 2 places I go.They can't knit anymore or do any sewing, their hands are not in great shape. Thanks for all your imput ladies!
My idea was this: cermaic tile coasters. You need: Staze-On Ink Pad (craft store) Heat source (heat gun or blowdryer) craft markers of any kind ceramiz tiles (go cheap, at Lowes/HomeDepot) stamp of your choice, one that can be colored in I wish I had some left so I could post a picture for you! They are fun and easy to make. You stamp the image using the Staze On pad, then color in. You then apply heat to the tile for a minute or two to set the ink. I made these in sets of 4, wrapped in raffia, for Xmas gifts one year. Used like a grapevine/wine type stamp and everyone was so impressed. They looked like I bought them. Plus, you can decorate them to go with someone's decor/color scheme. Just an idea. The Staze-On pad is around $10 (you won't need more than one, you could do an assembly line), a pack of markers could run $20, plus the tiles. Keep in mind though that the markers and ink pad would last you a long time, and the staze-on pad is for anything odd, not paper. Good luck!
