Remember,her dh's job made them move to Florida because they "outsourced" his dept to Italy? They found a house in Jacksonville Beach...their Tn home hasn't sold yet. So,they have had to make about 3 trips back and forth already. So,we haven't gone through the "final" goodby yet.It has actually given me the false feeling that they are just going on trips,because they keep coming back.Well,reality is beginning to sink in.They were supposed to come back this weekend( they've been gone for two weeks;this is the longest seperation yet)but they are having to wait till the end of the month,which will make it almost 6 weeks by the time we see each other!! My precious DGD called me last night and we talked for 2 hrs!! She told me how much she misses me,and she was talking to her new friend about me that day...I am hurting sooooo bad !! I literally cried myself to sleep. It is so strange to hear them talk about all the changes they are going through.Today,by phone ,I "went" to a yard sale with my dd !! I know it will get better with time,but right now it is so darn hard!!!!

Wanda, it's obvious how much you miss your dd and dgd. It's wonderful that you can chat with your dgd for such a long time and the idea of virtually yard-saling with your dd sounds like fun! I think that your relationship with them will change because of the time and distance but if you keep doing things like that with them, you'll still be a big part of their lives. I'd love to have that kind of relationship with some of my family that doesn't live nearby. I hope that the adjustment begins and is less painful than it has been so far. {{{Wanda}}}

I feel for you, we were always a miltary family and we lived all over, we never lived close enough for the kids to be near the grandparents and as a result it was always tough to leave when the time came, but as time wore on and they got alittle older we all adjusted. Plus now in the summer the kids go home for a month and we alternate holidays, going home for Thanksgiving one year then Christmas another and so on... But I know that your situation is different since they've always lived close. Maybe have a special time for when you call and talk to you dgd once weekly perhaps, she can fill you in on the friends she's made, her new neighborhood... We have one of those calling plans where it is unlimited long distance I call my mom everyday to keep in touch with her and to check on her. If that's not something that you are able to do then maybe just once weekly. Gee I wish I could think of some other ideas right now. (((Wanda)))

Thank ya'll so much.Kelly,we have the unlimited long distance,too.Plus ,our cell phones are free after 7 pm.I think I would be banana's by now if we didn't.Now I can personally say that I know just how precious your daily phone calls to your mom is to her.I'm sure she loves them,and you are are wonderful daughter to remember her this way.My DD called me Sat. to ask my advice about how to get wood stain off her hands.Now it seems like every word we say to each other is monumental.I just regret that I took life so for granted when they were just down the road.But it is so easy to do.My dgd called me tonight on her lunch break.I miss them so bad.Thanks for letting me repeat that statement so much!!!
