Barnes and Noble University.....
My sister told me about this, so I signed up for two courses tonight. They are absolutely FREE, non-credit courses. I'm taking them for a summer past time, and for personal enrichment. They also have online book clubs, like MV does. You just go to Barnes and Noble's web site (I had to find it through Google), then click on BNU. Of course, they want you to buy the recommended book(s), but I'm going to see if I can get them at the library. If not, I'll buy the books. My courses start on July 10th. I am taking a course on Tibetan Buddhism and one based on the book "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee", about the exploitation of the Native Americans in the settling of the West. (I remember my Dad reading that book years ago). I guess the courses typically run for four weeks. You can access the lessons at anytime, day or night, and there are message boards to communicate with others who are taking the course. Sounds like fun. Something to do when it's too muggy to go outside.
Thanks, Hol!
Wow! That does sound great! Wish I wasn't covered up with school work or I'd check out some of those courses. But that will be perfect for my mom. She's not able to get out too much because of some disabilities, but loves to read, and would love something like this. Thanks so much!
