Bad Day for Pets.......
I just read Yvonne's post about losing her beloved dog tonight. I lost my nine year old bunny today. I got "Cadbury" and "Jelly Bean" in 1997 when I took them away from a guy who bought them to eat them. I faked him out and told him I could have him arrested. There were four of them. I took two, and two other people each took one. To my knowledge, "Jelly Bean" was the last survivor. His litter mate died about five years ago. Even the vet's office was surprised how old he was. The vet says he was in kidney failure. He had gotten really thin and had developed eye infections because the kidneys couldn't clear the toxins. Yesterday was really hot, and he had a substance coming out of him that looked like egg white. He got real weak. I took him to the vet today in the hope that he just had an infection that could be cleared up with an antibiotic. The vet recommended euthanasia. They left me alone to say my good byes. Then, it was very quick. They wrapped him up and put him in a box, and I brought him home and buried him next to his brother. The older I get, the more tired I grow of losing beloved pets. I think, as the numbers go down, I will not be as likely to replace them. I have been through this too many times.
{{Holly}} Ugh...this whole story makes me sad! These bunnies were so lucky to have you!
Oh Hol, I know how it feels. (And I love the story of you threatening to have the guy arrested.) As much as it hurts to lose your Jelly Bear, you gave him and 3 other bunnies long and loving lives.) You did the right thing, and by staying with him did it the right way. And it hurts.
((((Hol)))) So sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Jelly Bean was lucky to have your love.
(((Holly))) I feel for you, I'm so sorry to hear about your bunny, he certainly was lucky to have you, for you gave him a loving home...
{{{HUGS}}} I'm so sorry.
So Sorry. (((HUGS)))
I am so sorry.

I am sorry for your loss! How sad that we both lost our pets. My son put it in an interesting way. He said that Chow had her independance---freedom from pain & old age---just in time for the 4th. Your bunny is no longer in pain. Who knows, maybe he is playing with Chow up in heaven.
Lots of {{hugs}}.
I am sorry for your family too!

Hol, I'm sorry about your pet, too. {{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}
Nine years...you must've loved that bunny so much! We have buns, too, and they certainly have a way of snuggling into your heart. I'm so sorry about your loss.
((Hol)) How sad!
Thank you all! It IS amazing how much these little creatures can become a part of you. Yvonne, I LOVE what your DS said. How profound. Children have such an insightful way of looking at things. I sometimes think that they handle life and it's passages better than we adults do. You are in my thoughts and prayers, too, as you try to adjust to your loss in the days ahead.
I'm so sorry to hear this. It is definitely so hard to lose our fur-babies. ((hugs))
{{{{{Hol}}}}} I'm sorry about your bunny.
((((Hol)))) I'm sorry for your loss.
