Quick baking question

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive June 2006: Quick baking question
By Tink on Friday, June 30, 2006 - 03:52 pm:

We're going camping this weekend and my youngest dd's birthday is on Sunday. I'm taking up some brownies to celebrate (I thought they'd travel best) but I'd like to make up a double batch in a 9x13 pan. Can I just lower the baking temperature and leave them in a little longer in order to get them cooked all the way through? I've made a double batch before and had the middle come out gooey and raw, which is exactly what I don't want. Thanks for any advice.

I always use a glass 9X13 pan - the box says 350 for 27 to 30 minutes using 9X13 - dark or nonstick pans add 3-5 minutes.

I always bake them in a bigger pan. I've never used a lower temp, and I never time my baking. I just keep testing til the middle isn't wet. We love them very chewy, so I underbake a bit.

I am probably too late but I always bake a double batch for 45 minutes. You can use a fork in the middle to test if it is fully cooked. If not try an additional 5 minutes at a time.
